Next year with Big Changes

Description
JT would need to waive. This is highly unlikely. I think this goes right in line with the type of moves Chicago has been making and would make.

I view Lily as being an early 2nd in terms of value and Kampf being a 3rd round pick. Ottawa needs a RD and good bottom 6 defensive players. I know I will probably get roasted for the trade but that is my justification for the late 1st round pick price tag.

I just made another AGM that was more on the realistic side of things. This one is ALOT less probable. It opens up ALOT of possibilities though.

If Minten isn't ready, then he goes to the AHL and we have room for a different guy. (same with Niemela). Don't yell at me for adding them.

Thoughts?

If you think the value is a 2nd and a 3rd then make the trade for a 2nd and a 3rd...?

Either way I dont actually think the Sens would be interested

That works also. Ottawa 2nd is early and a 3rd the following year. Both options work. The Boston 1st vs the Ottawa 2nd aren't a huge difference. Usually teams pay a 3rd ish to move that many spots.

Fair on them not wanting to do it though. I know their RD need is more of a defensive dman type.

For one year? If Toronto can get JT to waive I think Chicago might take him for FC. He still has value and Chicago needs top six guys. Tavares fits that box.

why would the leafs? Oh right, they gotta sign domi to take terrible penalties and let the other team score game winners at will

I can’t see ottawa trading any of their top 3 picks when the 20-50 range is loaded with good Dmen especially RD

It is very unlikely that JT waives. But if he does, a team like Chicago would take him for FC or a late pick, quite easily. It matches what they are building in Chicago very perfectly.

Picks drafted this year in that range will be ready in 3-5 years. I think we all believe that Ottawa can potentially contend as of next year. But fair enough if they don't want Lily and/or Kampf.

Liljgren and Kampf don’t move the needle.

It’s gonna be a Chychrun hockey trade followed by getting a 3rd pair D in free agency

They would ask for assets back to take 11m

And im not talking low ones. Look how much it cost NYI to dump Bailey

JT grew up a leafs fan and has a house in Toronto and a family. He is comfortable here and is the teams Captain why would he waive.

If he's gone its in FA and thats the direction I think were heading.

Makes 0 sense for TOR to spend assets to move a guy whose on the last year of his deal come 2024-2025

As long as the JT trade is made after 7/1 and the Leafs pay JT his signing bonus, Hawks would take him for F/C. And Ottawa easily declines. Kampf w/ that contract has negative value. No chance Kampf and Lily returns a 1st.

Bailey can't play anymore. JT would still be a solid contributor to the Hawks for his 1 season. But I doubt he waives.
