Hawks obviously decline. Even without any retention, that offer isn't close. Hawks aren't looking to trade Jones, so assuming Jones would even waive for Montreal, yes, the Habs definitely add.

would Jones want out due to the rebuild and the fact that he doesn't like his situation?

His comments at his end of season media availability had some hints of disgruntlement for sure. But it was a pretty brutal season in Chicago, so him being frustrated the day after 5he season ended is understandable. He definitely hasn't even hinted that he wants out though.

Which contract? I know you're not referring to Vlasic. If so you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

LMAO THE JONES CONTRACT IS AWFUL @9.5M for 6 more years.
I suppose the Mzarek and Dickinson contracts were also good deals when you wear those Hawks blinders. God damn you homers are irrational!

They are talking about Vlasic. They chimed in on the contract discussion saying as much. They are obviously someone who has no clue what they are talking about. Joined my ignore list pretty quickly too.

I doubt CHI would be interested in that. They would want more. Contrary to popular rhetoric, Jones has actually been very good for most of his career. Any problems I have with him are attributed to the timing of when CHI traded for him, the amount they gave up for him, and the contract they gave him. Outside of those things he has been fantastic for us. Not to mention he has a full NMC. So, it would take a lot of things lining up perfectly just to get a trade proposal on the table, and even then I doubt CHI would have any interest in selling this low on him.

Yes, the contract is bad. Yes, the Hawks gave up too much to get him. But you don't compound those mistakes by just giving Jones away. He's a very good two way D man who plays huge minutes. What's in that package that's so great for the Hawks? A cap dump in Dvorak. A mid 20's 1st and a 2nd? I'd argue it takes that 2nd just to dump Dvorak. Jones is worth more to the Hawks than a mid 20's 1st.

Hawks have no reason to trade Jones. They don't need the cap space. His cap hit actually helps them get to the cap floor. Moving him creates a hole the Hawks can't fill internally, so they then have to go out and make another move. There is absolutely no reason for the Hawks to trade Jones now. If making a smart hockey decision is being a "homer" then I'm fine with you calling me that.

As for Foligno, Dickinson and Mrazak, yeah, they all got more than they would have on the UFA market. But all 3 deals are for 2 years. All 3 deals help the Hawks hit the cap floor. All 3 guys are solid players and are all leaders in the room. Tell me you know nothing about roster construction and how the cap actually works by criticizing these 3 contracts. Pretty clueless.

what about Price + those picks and let's say Barron vs Jones, could it be something if he was to ask out?

I doubt that route appeals to the Hawks either. GM Kyle from Chicago has made several past comments that would indicate he's not inclined to take on a player who has no shot at playing again. I guess if Jones demanded a trade and taking Price was the only option to hit the cap floor, then maybe? But it seems to me that route would be a last resorr.

For what it's worth, I think the Habs getting Jones w/ 6 seasons of retention takes something like two 1st's, Barron, a F prospect the Hawks would want and maybe Gallagher to backfill the cap hit short term. At least Gallagher can still place them up.
