Do you really think Hunter will give their top RHD prospect + the 4th OV for Marner? That's a really good way to get into the hot seat and fast. They have plenty of other assets that they could offer if they are trading for Marner. They have plenty of wingers though so unless they are getting a really good deal doesn't make much sense for them to do that when they still need a 1/2C. It would require trading Matthews for them to offer both of those assets.

i'm always a little hesitant in my opinion on Mark Hunter. The Jackets are claiming they want an "outside source" for their new GM, but if it's Hunter, he's still tied to the team via Basil McRae. Who in which I still have my conspiracy he pushed for getting Liam Foudy drafted, ya know, a horrible pick. Wouldn't be surprised if they stay stubborn while hiring someone "new," with said new person working with the Basil for the past 22 years. Basil and Jarmo go back to their days in St. Louis. We just can't escape this tight knit group if so.

Mark Hunter would immediately become the shortest-tenured GM in NHL history. Neither of those pieces would be available in a Marner trade, a redundant player we don't want or need.
