I can go on lol
Radulov: turned down more money in Montreal than he got in Dallas. Not to mention his final 3 years (5 year deal with Dallas) in the NHL, Bergevin would have been roasted for had Radulov actually signed 5 years in Montreal.
Markov: was 38 and wanted money and term. Ideally he signs a short term deal, but the player (with no agent) also has to be willing to negotiate.
Subban: Just came off winning the Norris, and the owner stepped in during arbitration and forced the deal. Subban was worth every penny in Montreal, and only regressed in Nashville due to back injuries. The main issue should be Subban for Weber was 1 for 1, not that Subban made too much.
Captain Pac: Agreed. That was Subban's team, another reason Subban earned that contract.
Gallagher: Agreed, Bergevin should have bought a dog. Paid his favourite minion for past accomplishments.
Anderson: The conditions of his deal, and Domi's deal with Columbus, were known before they made the trade. Habs got the better player, and he almost won a Cup in Montreal. The real mistake was not trading him last year when his regression was starting to show and his value was still high. Again, not Bergevin's fault.
Alzner: Agreed, he didnt see the direction the league was going.
Glass: He asked for the higher ranked prospect, and gladly took Suzuki, while adding Tatar and a 2nd. Thats good negotiating, not a mistake.
Danault: You can't force someone to sign with you. Danault turned down a similar deal for guaranteed top 6 duty.
Kotkaniemi: soured on the coach who sat him, and forced his way off the team after Danault left.
Dvorak: Clearly a panic move, team just went to the Cup and then lost their center depth. If you dont add, the fanbase would have erupted. And lets be real here, Dvorak played far better in Arizona before falling apart in Montreal.
Bergevin's main issue will be refusing to go All In with Price in his prime. Refusing to rebuild properly when Price started experience season long injuries. And never having a proper Development program for his prospects.
