Pageau is a 3C. Not worth playing him in a 2C role just for Mayfield + a 3rd and 2.5M in cap relief, when TOR could just re-sign Tavares the following year for 7M or possibly lower.

Pulock + Engvall for Ehlers + Pionk is nowhere close to being fair for the Jets. Tsyplakov is probably the "big" forward addition for the Isles anyway.

It is definitely an interesting trade with the Hawks. On the service I like it . The only concern I have is blocking the prospects the Hawks have drafted from getting opportunities to make the line up.

If this trade were to happen, do the Isles immediately make Tavares their captain again?

was viewed as a highly regarded prospect about a year and a half ago. great size, decent offensive ability. was very good in the AHL, got called up and struggled at times in 2022-23 in spot duty after some injuries.

required waivers last season and there was no chance he would clear, so he stayed up the whole year and once again got spot duty during injuries.

unfortunately, the isles have needed the last week of the season the last two years to sneak into the playoffs, so his development took a big time back seat as any rookie mistake could have been the difference between making and missing the playoffs.

so yeah, he was developing well (4/5 potential), made some typical rookie mistakes in the nhl and then has had his development halted for 1.5 years due to team circumstance and waiver status. definitely no sure thing but worth a risk

I'd bet that CHI prefers a straight up 1st round pick over a couple reclamation projects and a late 2nd, to take Lee. But, it is not an entirely unreasonable offer, if CHI would prefer NHLer's to picks this time around.

I doubt Holmström or Wahlstrom excite Blackhawks management, it takes a 1st round pick to move Lee to Chicago.
