Ken Holland at 3????????????? I don't care what he did in the past, he's given out too many long term contracts to players not worth it. He chose Franzen over Hossa, and he overpays big time

Stan Bowman at 30? He had a dynasty after making cap trade after cap trade after cap trade.

Ken Holland is no longer a top GM.

Here's mine:

1.) Stan Bowman
2.) David Polle
3.) John Chayka
4.) Ron Hextall
4.) Jim Rutherford

Elite -- David Poile, Jim Rutherford, John Chayka, Ron Francis, Lou Lamariello, Jim Nill

Horrendous -- Marc Bergevin, Garth Snow, Ken Holland, Joe Sakic

Too Early to Tell -- Jason Botterill, George McPhee, Rob Blake

Everyone else is somewhere in the middle, don't feel like ranking them

- Holland is way too high. The Abdelkader, Helm, Ericsson, and Daley contract have shown how inept he has become; plus he protected Howard over Mrazek for whatever reason.
- Chiarelli hasn't done anything to warrant a top 10 position; McDavid fell into his lap, he gave out those awful Lucic and Russell contracts, he should've gotten more in the Hall/Larsson trade, and he traded Davidson for Desharnais for who knows why.
- Bowman should be higher for his ability to maneuver Chicago within the cap, while still keeping the team competitive.

Based off of your logic he should be higher than Poile and Rutherford

Chiraelli was up for GM of the year ... that means he's bad, right?

So what did Chiarelli DO to deserve GM of the year? What players has he drafted (other than McDavid)? What moves did he make? Were any of those moves truly good?

In my estimation, he hasn't made any, but he's done just enough to keep the team intact for the short term. He's pretty movable from 25 to 28.

over the whole few years at least, he added McDavid, Talbot, and Larsson.

The only move that is paying dividends done by Chiarelli is the Talbot acquisition (drafting McDavid doesn't count, that was the easiest decision in the history of hockey). While Larsson is helping the defense, you can't help but think that there was more out there for Hall, even if he just gets a pick. The horrendous management of Jesse Puljujarvi this season can't go unnoticed. The Desharnais-Davidson trade was incredibly stupid, and he better hope this Strome for Eberle trade works for him.

Totally forgot about that one...trading a pick that could have gotten any one of: Barzal, Samsonov, Boeser, JEE, Konecny, Chabot, White, Aho, Carlo in exchange for 2 assists in 30 games, and then losing him for nothing.

Griffen Reinhart is a bust. Derek Pulliot is a bust. Scott Laughton is a bust. Nail Yakupov is a bust.

These guys will never have any remembrance in the NHL other than "hey remember that bust named Griffin Reinhart?"
