Tempting, but I wouldn't have any NHL goaltender at that point, and anyway the cost is heavy for my liking with the 1st round pick, considering Hellebuyck is eclipsing into starter-dom at 24 years of age.

If you're willing to give him for cheap (not top-6, not a top prospect, not a 1st or 2nd), sure. Otherwise, I think he's on the decline early with a 3.02GAA and .909Sv%. Those types of goalies tend to trade for cheap in the NHL.
I'd suggest a cap swap (hint hint, Hagelin) and a 3rd.

Not even close. Trading Trouba for a B+ prospect (with a penchant for PIM) and a 1st would set me back light years. Any Trouba trade would require an overpay in the likes of RD NHLer (under 33) + A- prospect

After reviewing your roster and comparing it to mine I am wondering about a certain type of deal that I feel could be mutually beneficial. The structure would be something like the following:

Cody Ceci (The other top Ottawa RHD) + Brock Nelson (Solid 20 G Center) + Vancouver 1st 2018 (Top 5 pick or atleast top 10, but more likely top 4 or so) + ??????
for
Jacob Trouba (Great Player) + Mark Stone (Plays RW which I need) + Ottawa 1st 2018 (Playoff type first rounder)

What reasonable thing could I add on to this proposal to make it work? I could add in Samsonov for Hellebuyck straight up if you want the player with the higher ceiling. You said you wanted a starting goalie though so that may not work. What about Vancouver 3rd 2018 from my side and Carl Hagelin from your side? That should close the gap in value on the deal quite well as I see Hagelin as more of a dump type player now. I'd be flexible to other stuff also. I'd basically like to do Ceci + Nelson for Trouba + Stone, but recognize that the value isn't there unless it's built up by adding higher value from my side on atleast a couple more assets to get the needle to an even valued trade.

I know you don't have a lot of time right now, but I've been searching for a legit #1 RHD and a top 6 young RW for some time so it'd be great if we could make something even. If it's too much time for you to spend to figure something out we could always come back to it when things calm down for you if you think there is anything to be agreed on here.

No thanks. I have no interest in Bennett (obviously we value him very differently). I wouldn't ever move any of my current top4 for anything less than another defenseman. As you can see, I don't have many to spare. As for Brown, I'm not enthusiastic to trade him (we both know he has real good upside) unless for the right piece. I value him somewhere like a couple notches lower than your Fabbri or Larkin.

I'd do Miller and a 2018 1st (DET) for Brown and a 2020 4th (OTT) and 2019 6th (take your pick), if you're that intent on getting him.
Alternatively, I'd do Larkin for Brown and 2019 1st (best of either OTT or CAR), but I don't think that's the direction you're taking.

I can't see any other alternative trade in my arsenal that would please you, considering you're after prospects and picks.


Well, I have to give it to you, this is the best Trouba trade pitch I've received yet, among a flurry of them. Normally I'd delay my answer and say I'll be shopping Trouba in the near future league-wide, but I owe you some respect for truly understanding my needs and trying to make it work both ways. Thanks.

Unfortunately for you, I'm quite low on Ceci, based on his advanced stats and all. I understand that I'll likely be receiving a slight downgrade on Trouba in a Trouba trade (in order to grab the other pieces I want), but I'm not willing to downgrade this much. Mainly because my defensive depth is terribly bad right now, so that would harm me way too much.

I'll also be formally fielding offers on Stone very soon, likely tomorrow if all goes well. I'll message you on Twitter about this. I rather keep Stone, but that top-5 pick is indeed tempting...

What for chabot

Something ridiculous, like Bergeron/Tkachuk and Sproul, 2018 3rd... Johansson, Benn, MAF, two 2018 2nds, one 2018 2nd...
I'm not looking to trade Chabot. I clearly don't have the pieces to replace him, or any of my defensemen for that matter. Stop asking, you don't have anything reasonable that could pry him away from me, unless you're insane.

Optimally, a Chabot return would include a top-4 NHLer (23 to 27yrs old), and an A- prospect (or A/A+ depending on how old the NHLer is). I don't see why anybody would be insane enough to do that trade, and that's fine by me. So unless you're looking to give Doughty + Pierre-Luc Dubois, save yourself the trouble.

Gallagher for Stone as a base.

No thanks. I do like Gally, but Stone is already quite a bit better than Gallagher, and is much less of a question mark (injury struggles). Unless you're willing to pay with a blue-chip prospect, I'm not willing to take on that downgrade and risk.
