Do your realize how insanely good that offer was, lol

yeah but were not rebuilding. Were tryna make the playoffs next year so that move wouldnt really make any sense for us. But yeah it was a pretty good offer.

Point would be your 1C. Sergachev is your 1LHD and the 2 1sts would give you whatever you need in the future

Point isnt a #1 C right now and even though hes super good making him play center on the first line could mess up his development same with Serg hes not a #1 LHD right now.

Either way, Karlsson is a major part of our future. We're not trying to build for a few years from now, we're trying to build for next season.

Either way, Karlsson is a major part of our future. We're not trying to build for a few years from now, we're trying to build for next season.

People are basically GIFT WRAPPING you the future, and you continue to spit int he face of every GOOD offer made to you.
You're going to be in cap Hell this summer trying to sign the guys you think are your "future".
If you don't think Stone is going to deserve upwards of 6-7 million for a new deal you be cray cray.
And Turris is going to demand at least that much, so now you're looking at 12-14 million for 2 guys....and you barely have any cap space next year.

To be Fair, they may be able to squeeze both guys in if Condon is their goalie

If you have an offer you want to make for Karlsson, go ahead. I'm not gonna stop you from making an offer, but it's probably not going to turn into a deal. Karlsson can help us win now and in the future.

            A couple things:
            1. This thread is basically the drama filled, Real Housewives-esque of Cap Friendly and you are gonna wind up with everyone hating you
            2. Flames is right people are gift wrapping you the future and you are talking about a "play-off run" (um with that LHD no chance in hell do you make a deep run plus Anderson is gonna wind up running out of gas)
            3. You are screwed in cap space with Stone and Turris needing a new contract and both need big paydays, So I would start dumping some cap while people actually will take your trades(but it seems they aren't the problem with some of the trades you have turned down)
Some advice before your team turns into the dumpster fire of Cap Friendly

I made you an offer. Bieksa for Karlsson, straight up. But you fail to see how this not only gives you cap space for signing other guys you so desperately want to keep, but relieves you of the headache of having to find a way to re-sign EK after next year. Which you will absolutely NOT be able to afford if you stay on your current path.

Whether you (RAIF) want to believe this when EVERYBODY tells you, it is true. If you have any intention of keeping Stone/Turris you're going to need at least $12m in cap, and looking at your long term outlook tab , next year you only have roughly $14m once the cap goes up. That's the definition of cap screwed.
I mean you could also be stubborn and keep them while waiting for the greedy offer sheets to roll in come July 1st and lose one or both for nothing. Sure you'll get draft picks, but that doesn't play into your mindset of being a playoff team next year.

Sometimes you gotta make tough decisions, or make a move you really don't want to make in order to improve the future of your club.

We don't need to trade away cap right now. That can wait until the offseason.

There's a very good chance you "MIGHT" get lower value in return in the offseason because everyone knows that after next season Karlsson is going to need a new deal in the area of $10m+ so you'd be working with a limited few teams who would even be able to afford that. Not many teams would bring a guy like that in knowing they could lose him for nothing after only 1 year.
But you stick to your plan. The rest of us will sit back and watch this thing play out.
You and your AGM have already proven that your valuations of the current team are way off. Usually teams that are 20 or so points out of the playoffs at this stage of the season do anything they can to build for next year. You seem fine staying the coarse with some guys you very well coul dend up losing for NOTHING. You have very little cap space to work with. Do you not think some team with oodles of cap room isn't going to outbid you for your treasured UFA's? Do you also think there's not teams out there who have stockpiled draft picks won't put in crazy offer sheets that you simply can't match for your treasured RFA's?

I'm not forcing you to do anything, but really take a look back of some of the trade offers people have given you and see where your team could be today had you just accepted some of them. I mean just myself at one time I offered you Oliver Ekman-Larsson, a world class defenseman for basically 2 guys who are yet to prove anything in the NHL. But you and your AGM for some reason felt Chabot was better than OEL and turned it down.
            That's cray cray man.

Wait. So first your telling us that were screwed for cap space and then going on to say that we should have traded Chabot on a rookie contract for OEL whos gonna make 7+ mil? what?

We were about to accept your trade actually but then we figured that cap would be a problem and that we dont really want 2 very offensive minded d-man playing together so we decided to pursue McDonagh instead.

And Brodie's got an extra year and is on a smaller contract.

Do you guys have any interest in RHD Adam McQuaid or Kevan Miller for your 2018 3rd + Johnny Oduya (cap dump)? Chris Wideman is pulling down 11:33 atoi as a 3rd RHD so the defense on your team may need some reconfiguring. If you had more cap space we'd probably take a 4th + C+ prospect for one of those guys, but looking into your situation made me think you'd have to send out the cap of Oduya to make a deal work.
