Oh seriously no worries honestly. It’s not like it was breaking news. I’m sort of disappointed that he couldn’t crack it in the NHL. His skill set got me really excited in juniors. Just unfortunate.

That doesn’t even start a conversation via phone call. Werenski has a higher ceiling then Jones and better analytics.

2022 draft is one of the better classes in a while. Not sure why you’d give that 1st up. 2021 is a crap shoot. Might be easier to do that. However, I understand if you don’t want them loading up and having more power and bargaining tools.

Per the 2020 CBA; Conditional picks based on a player resigning are no longer permitted. So that doesn’t even work.

A player that could’ve been acquired at no cost via waivers and a 34 year old defensemen? Why go for Holtby on that contract when you can just hope Hart rebounds. Definitely a no from Canucks.

Only way I see that happening is if he goes to a team that he will extend with that needs help in the expansion draft with Seattle. Jackets have leverage in that they could help a few teams possibly, not just one.

Closest thing to a contender with cap space is NYR and with them so full on RD nor close to a cup it seems unlikely and then everyone else so stuck
If I were CBJ I'd be happy to use that $ to retain
Only for 1 non contending year / boosts the return</div></div>
Interesting. Didn’t think this was a deal where Seth doesn’t extend. I’d love Guri but I don’t know who Jackets would target. They seem to be calculating some possible moves.

Folingo is definitely going to take a discount for his next team but I don’t see the value in Toronto offering him? I mean the top line in the playoffs is a glaring issue (JT aside) so I’m curious as to what the next identity of the leafs is. The veteran presence didn’t get it done. Not that it is on them.

Which trade package for Jack Eichel do you like the most for Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LindyRuffRider</b></div><div>There are some delusional fans that think they're getting Zegras + Drysdale + 3 1sts, and that's obviously not happening. The return that most people are expecting is a great prospect, good prospect, roster player (for cap reasons), and a 1st. Maybe a cap dump thrown in there to match salaries and a pick added. Is that what you consider the "huge" return?</div></div>
It largely depends on the teams. I mean realistically of those teams, who could afford to take on Eichel for long-term? Anaheim makes the most sense with Getzlaf, Backes, and Miller coming off the books. Would they move the pieces that would be desired? Minnesota has to negotiate with Kaprizov for starters. Depending on the team, I think maybe you could see an extra roster player added in with the sweetener of a mid level prospect / pick for taking them. How it affects the overall structure of the deal is to TBD by GMs obviously. Columbus and Buffalo may luck into a few phone calls from teams who need help with Seattle protections due to Jackets Picks and Buffalos alleged cap space. If Adams plays his cards right, he could make the franchise turn out all right post July Expansion, Draft, and FA.

Nyquist, 5th OVA, 22nd, and the 24th isn't the kings ransom you think it is. Even with the condition that Eichel plays half the games for an additional 1st.</div></div>
It’s more likely Columbus would move Seth first to whomever for extra sweeteners to put in a package. Even then I think they would target Reinhart first. Not sure why they’d go rebuild and then pull another 2019 Deadline and be left with very little.

Buffalo is trying to move someone like him at arguably the worst time for the franchise. A flat cap + a neck injury? That will work against them. They could get a nice package, and someone will definitely offer up for him. I just don’t think it will be what it is allegedly being touted as in terms of the huge return.

Minnesota is the team that makes sense but doesn’t at the same time. Players like Eichel pre-injury (amid concerns coming back) are one of a kind. They definitely lacked a player like Eichel in the lineup against LV. I would think Minnesota would be more inclined to run with Boldy and Rossi in the line-up next year.
Columbus? I don’t really see it happening. That is a silly over-pay for someone who is rebuilding and has player retainer issues. They could protect the 22 pick but it would be a little absurd to gift wrap probably a sure-fire top 10 pick in the next two years. What’s to say Eichel doesn’t want out in a few like everyone else?

Wouldn’t shock me to see Jackets go McTavish / Johnson to try and address C. Maybe D as well to address Jones leaving. It’s a hard time to be a team that needs to move disgruntled players with the flat cap though.

Reilly is not going to re-sign in Columbus anyways. I don’t see why Leafs would just move a majority of the picks they have that could come in handy in different situations in the future.

This is just straight up overpay. Jackets are rebuilding so why hand over a 1st in a better year? Sure make it top 5-10 conditional but then risk it in 23? Losing Jones already then moving Werenski? No Dahlin on the move? Yikes.

The Columbus Deal doesn’t make sense for Buffalo or Columbus. Laine doesn’t really address the loss of Eichel. Laine just gets thrown into another unhappy situation. Jackets will probably try and move Seth to someone who will offer for him with an extension. Probably will take what they get from that deal to add in for Eichel.
