<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BStone67</b></div><div>Gardiner, Bozak and JVR didn't drop the ball last season, Duchene and Barrie heavily let their team down. Barrie was a -34 with only 40 minutes played on the PK, and that's kind of atrocious. It's a downgrade for a higher price in my opinion, and Babcock loves Gardiners ability to control the play and puck possession.

Duchene only notched 43 points last season, and yes let's say we forget last season, still, he's only ever got more than 60 points twice in 8 years and has struggled with injuries a lot of that time, too, along with inconsistency. He could thrive under Babcock, but at the asking price Sakic has set (not this horribly out of control trade) it's really not worth it. The Leafs have Bozak, who can contribute and has a great mentor quality with the team, and great chemistry with the players already.

If we do grab Duchene and Barrie and they do both exceed expectations under Babcock, then they'll ask for a raise when their contracts are up in a couple years and the Leafs will be forced to let them walk for nothing or try to trade them depending on where the Leafs sit in the standings that year. It seems like a really pointless trade for both teams, because either we get players who are coming off a horrid season with expensive contracts that don't get better and flop still, or we get two players who rebound and become successful that we won't be able to afford and gave up futures to get them.

As for the trade, it's definitely not gonna work, since Sakic is over asking and you won't get those players from them for that price, even if it's a quality center, a top 4 D and a blue chip prospect with a few rag tag players in there.</div></div>

Bozak and Gardiner for Duchene and Barrie could be debated as equal trade. And some of the other pieces don't add much, but the Leafs wouldn't want to give up on Bracco. Yea you would think if Duchene and Barrie were so good, they would have been traded for now. But as suggested earlier, Sakic is asking too much for two players that are not living up too their contracts. I'm sure the Leafs who are kinda in a win now mode, don't want to babysit Duchene and Barrie and run the risk they aren't as good as the two pieces they traded away. Barrie might be able to help a PP, but the Leafs had the second best PP last year. Is he really gong to help there?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NateElder12</b></div><div>overpay for Laughton, underpay for Cousins, underpay for Vecchione, underpay for Weal (IMO), awful contract for Ghost...</div></div>

Really? That much that its worthy not comment it? How much are really talking here? 100 maybe 200K difference for each of those players except for Ghost who would be extremely lucky to get that contract. Not sure why he deserves so much more? Subban got a bridge deal at roughly the same thing. Sure, he went on to win the Norris and really screw MTL after that but we're talking about Ghost here. I don't foresee any Norrises in his future. I think he'd be happy to take a bridge deal at that amount. If its about term, then I agree. Get him signed longer now while he's cheaper as he should only get better from here on out. Still this contract isn't the end of the world.

900 for Laughton isn't that far off base. It could be anyweher from 750-950.
750 for Cousins is a bit low but nothing more then a 1M should be given. So we're talking 250K difference here.
975 for Vecchionne seems fine. Not sure what he has leverage to prove otherwise. College is college and NHL is NHL. He hasn't done sh*t in the NHL yet. He's a 24 year old smallish center with virtually no NHL experience.
975 for Weal is about right. Don't let the small sample size fool you. He wasn't going to keep up that pace all year with Philly. He is the same player he was in LA. A smallish skilled winger/center that can put up decent production given offensive roles only but can't stick with any other role.

As for Ghost, well its tough I guess. His offensive production screams "lock him up long term". His defensive game yells "I need a bridge deal to prove Im not just a M-A Bergeron".

Thread: After Price
Your assuming Jones isn't resigned by that time......... Good young prime time goalies are rarely available unless they really want to leave. Letting Price go without a backup plan in disastrous and should only be followed up by tanking the next couple of years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Larkinisking</b></div><div><i>Yeah Martin Jones isn't leaving San Jose and Cam Fowler wants to either come home to Detroit or will resign with Anaheim so way does Fowler sign with Montreal.</i></div></div>

Oh enough Larkin! Your predicting something you have no idea of. Jones may not leave because he wants but because he asks for 8.5M like shown above and SJ isn't willing to spend that money on him. Is that such a crazy concept to conceive of? Will it happen? I don't know but at least you can't say for certain that some one in 2 years is not leaving that team.

And enough with your Detroit hard on-love affair! "Trouba only wants to play with Detroit", "Fowler wants to come home to Detroit". (Can't wait to see Fowler resign with Anaheim with the zero money they'll have in 2 years for him but ok!) Every player ever born in Michigan only wants to play for Detroit!!!! They only have so much space and so much cap to take on all the Michigan players in the world. Eventually a couple will have to go to one of the other 30 teams around the league and they'll be perfectly happy with it!

So how about you start posting your opinion and phrase things like " I think" and "In my opinion" instead of pretending that you know with facts because stating "Fowler wants" and "Jones isn't" is pure speculation on your part and holds as much merit as David Desharnais being traded to Detroit for their 1st rounder!!!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs1967again</b></div><div><i>Um you started off good. Bozak deal seems reasonable and PHI could use a C, although they would likely prefer a cheaper option.

Things got bad though.

Manson is being kept by ANA. He is on his ELC and plays top 4 minutes. You will not get him for that, regardless of what they think of Bracco. Not even close man.

Again with WSH. Lindberg and a pick, really? The pick is not even 2017? Really? That's terrible. Doesn't matter how highly anyone thinks of Lindberg this is a huge no for WSH. He is a top 4 D. They possibly reject JVR....

Rychel and 2 2nd's do not get you Killorn. They will find a higher bidder regardless of their desperation. Rychel is going to be lost on waivers next year by someone to a crap team so it's really just 2 2nd's...gross...

Lets get serious on these offers fellow TML fans.</i></div></div>

To begin, I expect nothing less (or more) from you. You are the worst kind of Leaf fan. The type who seeks to grovel at the feet of other teams fans in order to look "fair", all the while you undervalue our players.

If you can agree that Bozak's value is two 2nds how is Killorn's any more? He has never scored more than 41 points in a season and Bozak, a Centre, has had 49, 49 and 47 point seasons with one of those 49's in 58 games. Killorn also has a 4.5 million cap hit for another 6 years taking him to the age of 33. Ask yourself this, how many teams can afford a) the protection spot and b) the contract?

As for Orlov, WSH is going to lose him for nothing to Vegas, he is also an RFA. Ask yourself again, how many teams can afford a) the protection spot and b) his new contract if he is as great as you make him out to be? I know one team that can't and that is WSH.

And lastly in regards to Manson and your claim that ANH will "keep him". ANH, because of Bieksa's NMC is in a really tight spot. Unless they move Fowler, they have to choose the 8 skater protection method. They would have to protect Getz, Perry, Kesler and Bieksa who all have NMC's and then logic would dictate that they would also protect Lindholm, Vatanen and Fowler. That leaves one spot for one of Rackell, Silvferberg, Cogliano or Manson. And that spot would go to one of Rackell or Silvferberg. So Manson is unprotected. Even if they trade Fowler to allow themselves to go 7+3+1, Manson is still unprotected (Lindholm, Vatanen, Bieksa). At that point a return of Soshnikov + Bracco is fair, and might actually be an overpayment.
