I will try to address everyone.
Palhal- there are 4 D man in the top-4. That's kinda why it's called top-4. Letang, Maatta, and Pouliot r only 3.
mtdavis311- Maatta and Pouliot r only 2 players. There r 4 in the top-4.
F50marco- Nobody said the pens have to trade Scuds for a top-4 dman. If they r gonna trade him, it will either be for a low pick or a prospect, not an overpayed 3rd liner.

Only problem I see is that Erixon would be claimed off waivers easily.
Try packaging Kunitz, Erixon and a 3rd for prospect of value.

Nicely done bud. Realistic trades where both teams gain something they need from the trade.

So your saying that they need to trade Scuderi for a top 4 Dman? Your missing the point of the trade............SCUDERI IS GONE. Every Pans fan should of just jizzed their pants when I just said that.
Get your top 4 dman whatever way necessary but getting rid of Scuderi has nothing to do with that.

Who or what is a "Marcantuoni"?
Just kidding, :)
No, adding him wont make Joe Sakic go "Marcantuoni? why didn't you say so?????? yes you got yourself deal now!". More like, " Are you serious? Tanguay had 50+ points last year and was one of our best players. why would I do that? I think you need to get the f8ck out of my house Rutherford!"

Mid page.
"The deal was worked on at the draft. But given Kessel was due a $4-million bonus July 1, it was decided to hold off so deep-pocketed Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment could pay that. The Leafs were also forced to retain $1.2 million annually of Kessel’s salary when two players who were to come to the Leafs in Penguin salary dumps — Chris Kunitz and Rob Scuderi — declined to waive their no-trade clauses."
Not picking sides here just showing what I found clicking the first link in a google search of "Scuderi NTC Leafs".
Anyways it doesn't matter in the end, make the trade however you envision it. It's a free site for anyone to do what they want as GM. By that same token, don't post a team with a trade that most "Non Pens fans" agree isn't fair for one side AND not expect someone to comment on it. If I see an unrealistic trade, I will tell that person. Not for some sick way of making myself sound like a hockey genius, simply passing my opinion on to those willing to listen and then decide for themselves if it still makes sense or not.

We're like drugs addicts...We see the Pens logo, are told, "not to click" but still do. The temptation is too great. Your post is an Armchair GM trifecta. Trade Scuder, trade Kunitz.....yea.... save salary cap and then waste it by signing Franson.

I don't believe JR is looking to trade Kunitz. Forward depth is a good as its ever been for the Pens at the moment, so dealing Kunitz would just hurt that for us, and put an empty space on the roster we need to fill. Doesn't help us out overall, really.

If you're tired of seeing Scuderi traded don't click
I have zero problem with people trading Scuds. It's the point of being a Armchair GM. The only thing that gets annoying (as a fellow hockey fan who likes reading other posters trade ideas) is the value some of you think he has. Or that by combining him with other assets somehow makes it ok?
Why would Buffalo want to take on one of the worst players/contracts in the league? Just to get Kunitz? I like Kunitz but jeez nobody wants him that badly. Coincidently, your trade isn't that far off if you just remove Scuds and the 6th that Buff gives Pitt.
Now I realize the whole friggin point is to get rid of him right? Okay, I'll give 5 options that are actually plausible for a number of reasons. Once again, these aren't fun trades. Your not exactly happy about it but it at least it makes a little sense for both teams and slightly shifts value to an area the team receiving could actually use.
Scuds + 6th 2016 for Bryan Bickell. Bickell is the better player but slightly more expensive so add a draft pick.
Scuds 750K retained for Colin Greening. Greening is cheaper but has at least equal value to Scuds. So you have to add a
Scuds + 6th 2016 for R.J Umberger 1M retained. Umberger is a better player but his salary is worse then Scuds is. So they retain salary and Pitt throws in a pick.
Scuds + 3rd 2016 for Matthew Carle 500k retained. Carle is still a decent defensemen. He's not worth 5.5M anymore but at least he can be in your top 4 D and still be decent. TB retains some salary but is losing more total salary long term and Pitt gains more salary but gets a much better player to replace Scuds. T.B gets closer to resigning Stamkos. Pitt actually gets better with this trade.
Scuds + 3rd 2016 for Joffrey Lupul. 500K retained. Same as above explanation. Lupul is still a good player but is just overpaid. T.O retains salary but loses overall salary long term. Pitt gets a still overpaid top 6 forward but replaces Scuds who could potentially not even be in the team's top 6 defensemen. 5M of something you can actually use or 3.3M of something you can barely use? Pick your poison.

Not a bloody chance in hell. Ehlers will be a solid player. Kid has sick hands. Equivalent if not even better than Leafs giving Nylander.....
From hockeysfuture,.com (where Ehlers is rated 3rd best prospect in the league that hasn't burnt an NHL rookie season yet)
"The Winnipeg Jets snagged a silky smooth pure goal scorer when they drafted Nikolaj Ehlers. With back-to-back 100-point seasons in the QMJHL, the anticipation for the Danish forward to play in the NHL continues to grow. Even without high-profile former teammate Jonathan Drouin this season, Ehlers continued to be one of the most explosive offensive talents in junior hockey. He thinks and plays the game at an exceptionally high level, and his lack of size is offset by his great skating and heads-up thinking. He will need to get stronger and improve his defensive game, but those are issues that can be easily solved with good coaching."</i></div></div>
Ah didn't realize he was rated that highly. Thought it'd be cool to put him and Sprong together to form a " Double Dutch" line :)</i></div></div>
Hahah would be funny but Ehlers is Danish, not Dutch. ;)

Yeah he admitted that but it could of just meant for that specific deal but none the less I cant say your wrong. I looked at that roster for 25minutes and I really cant fix it with one move. That defense is a mess so I think were both right but were kinda both wrong too. I think putting a rookie on the top line of a cup contending team is weak but when I think of a fix that should be done its hard to figure something out. Scuderi has a NTC, Erixon and Dumoulin are both on one way contracts so if you send them down it still counts against the cap.....Rutherford's got a lot of work to do.

The Montreal trade shows potential. And still cap space for Skuds to be on team.
Why does Winnipeg give Pittsburgh a second rounder? Just give it to the Leafs and avoid the "Pens" middleman.

Doesn't make sense, and in this situation we have no cap room to allow for injuries, etc. Rather leave Scuds on the team as a 7D.

But it doesn't make sense for those teams to acquire Scuderi. Why would they want him? Arizona and Carolina have budgets below the cap ceiling. They're not paying $3.6m for a guy that can't play. There are plenty of those for cheaper.
Mr. D D: I agree with you completely. My first comment was sarcastic, aimed at Armchair GMs would wish their problems away. Almost every team has some contract problem with some players. Scuds at $ 3.4 million a year for two years isn't super bad. Imagine the Leafs dilemma with Phanuef, $ 7 million a year for 6 more years.
And Scuderi isn't going to waive his NTC to go to some basement dwelling team anyways. Most likely scenario is he's a Penguin this season; even if it's as a healthy scratch. Unlikely they assign him to the AHL even though it'd clear almost $1m in cap space. Even less likely, he is traded (Buffalo is most probabe candidate IMO).</i></div></div>

I think that's a much more realistic number. I think he's worth 4 at least but with his health history I predict he gets 3.5 for 5 years.
Ideally we go longer term so that as the cap rises he becomes a steal. I would have no problem with up to 5/year if he has a great season. Keeping in mind our cap situation, he'll probably get less than 4 but at the cost of a shorter term.
