Vegas doesn't shy away from big trades. Hanifin would be a younger replacement for Martinez should he demand too much. With the LTIR room, I think they would go for both.

This would never happen but would be insanely epic
A) You're right, the value isn't there for Calgary.
B) If there was Cowan, it would help
C) CGY wouldn't retain on Mangiapane, so there would need to be a cap dump coming back
D)Mangiapane would light it up on Toronto's top 6 IMO
E) Goaltending needs to be addressed.

What a hot mess this is....
Why are the sharks giving away their lotto pick for Tanev? Why would Calgary give away His brother for Hoffman?
These are either terrible for San Jose or terrible for the other teams.

If CGY and NJ do make a trade this will make for an excellent audit of the ACGMs. Bookmark it.

If flames add Holtz, same</div></div>
You're missing the point: the only people who slot down on the flames are waiver eligible, or one of decent wingers goes to the fourth line.
Considering NJ's abysmal goaltending this year, you have a greater need for a good goalie than Calgary does for another winger. It has nothing to do with Holtz as a player.

Just like Josh Anderson to the flames for a first? That rumour took 3 years to die. Lindholm's trade was higher than the comparable given his year Vs Horvats season. Tanner Jeannot had no comparable whatsoever.
90 % of insider trades are wrong. If Holtz is in the deal, it is because that's what NJ was willing to give, not because it was an ideal fit.

Calgary has a ton of wingers, so it doesn't make sense. Who is moving to the 4th line? Our leading scorer is already on our 3rd line. We have Pelletier, Coronato, and Honzek- in the pipeline which are all wingers as well. There are no NHL calibre prospects in the system.

No, multiple mock trades have had Holtz because one rumour suggested it. Just like Tanev and the leafs or Hanifin and Boston. If anything is certain, it is that the deals are always different than "insiders" suggest.

I think Calgary would prefer Mercer given the glut at wing. I also don't see NJ giving up Mercer so Markstrom may be a summer move. Teams like Buffalo and Ottawa have a ton of center prospects and should be playoff teams if it wasn't for their D and goaltending.

However, expecting a team to trade us a top line center caliber player or prospect is not at all realistic. We are probably going to have to draft that. Here's to hoping Cayden Lindstrom or Berkly Catton are available when Calgary makes their selection.</div></div>
I agree. You're really hoping for a Tage Thompson situation, or perhaps Wyatt Johnston, where the value isn't 💯 known until a year later

Bruz is the 3rd highest scorer in the OHL, as and RD. Dougie Hamilton and Rasmus Anderson were winners of the same scoring title. It was one of two positions Calgary needed, and Raty hasn't been exactly lighting it up, so Conroy got what we needed. You're just trying to rationalize NJ not having to give up anything tangible in ANY trade, which is ironic considering I'm saying we shouldn't want Holtz.

Flames trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Holtz being a top 6 caliber prospect is the only reason he is a fit over most winger prospects. Our glut is in the middle 6 but Holtz would be a prospect I take the risk on to be a top 6 caliber guy. I don't think there are enough teams offering center prospects out there for Markstrom. Buffalo would maybe make Savoie available but at 5'9 odds are he ends up as a winger in the NHL anyways. I also doubt Marky would waive to Buffalo.
When it comes to our pending UFA's like Hanifin and Tanev we can be more picky on positional need but not so much with Markstrom</div></div>
I don't disagree with your premise. However, Markstrom doesn't need to be traded by the deadline. Buffalo has Ostlund as well and a glut of centers. I could see them swinging a deal in the summer.
Calgary only has 2 natural centers on the team, and I don't see Zary moving to Center. Yegor is serviceable, but not a solution long term. Calgary's need has been the same as the last 30 years: a top line center. The team will never go anywhere without one. It should be a priority when trading all assets.

Yeah, just like Lindholm wasn't going to get a 1st and a top prospect because "he was having a bad year".
Markstrom and Hanifin are having excellent seasons. Considering Markstrom is the only reason Calgary is winning games, teams will pay for that.

Have you seen how many wingers Calgary has right now and in their pipeline? There are only two natural centers on the roster and no decent prospects at C. They have two decent D prospects and nothing else. I don't see Holtz as a fit.
CGy would be better off getting a legit Center prospect from another team, and a 1st + for Markstrom
