its a good offer but I'm guessing someone else (NJD, Dallas, DET, etc...) will pay more.

Gotta think it takes more. Howard or Gauthier would have to be involved to land a d-man like Hanifin IMO. But the 1st is in 2026 so I think CGY takes the gamble on that pick being pretty good

It's interesting, both big boys, it would make a quite an imposing sight if everything went right ...in a couple of years and the pick is a ways out too .... so nope

Doesn’t move the needle enough unfortunately. Just nothing appealing or enticing there given the picks are a couple years away and there’s not a Top Prospect included

Nah.

Try 1st in 2026, Gauthier, 2nd in 2025, 3rd in 2024... at minimum

I wouldn't trade the 2026 pick unprotected and Calgary definitely wouldn't do it unless it WAS unprotected so probably not a fit here. Tampa just doesn't have the assets

Unless Tampa had/has an agreement in place where they can extend Hanifin, Stamkos, and somehow fill in 4 additional spots with maybe 3 or so million in cap space, they should not be paying an exorbitant price for Hanifin. There are better ways to use the cap and assets they have to have a more well rounded roster with depth moving ahead.

Tampa should be playing trade maker not buying. Be the team that takes on assets to let other teams make trades, the same way NYR took Vatrano from Florida 2 years ago
