Jacques Martin masterclass
Guys will play for both him and Alfie. A guy like Martin brings coaching experience and a guy like Alfie understands the player side of it. It's a wicked good combo. I'm curious to see what Martin does with Stu. Kid has been doing whatever he wants lately and it's getting annoying.

Sens fans feedback
I echo all the Sens fans here: he's not going anywhere.
He's been the most consistent forward since coming here. I doubt he waives for anything other than a real shot at the Stanley Cup. For a guy in the later half of his 30's, he's not showing his age very much. Once the Sens get organized structurally, both on the ice and off, his role and play will only improve the situation. So unless everything falls apart this year and the next, he won't be moving.

Untouchable is an over-used word, but I do believe it is correctly used here. Kovalenko is a pipe dream until he shows up and I am not sure he will be happy with an LOC type role. I appreciate your posts and view, not trying to argue, just explaining myself.</div></div>
The modern day "Connor Brown" before his injury sounds like. And the Sens version of Mathieu Joseph (before he got hurt). Guys who don't feel out of place on any line.

No I get it. Dependable, cheap depth is a must for any team to compete. Just figured you guys needed a goalie so I threw in a "sweetener".
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>Colorado can't take on that kind of salary and really don't need Brannstrom.
I think packaging Forsberg and Brannstrom will work for some team, but I'd look more to a Chicago or San Jose for example.</div></div>
Chicago might take Forsy, they're full up on LHD though... Maybe SJS.

GM first. Coach second. It's frustrating and I fear that this road trip will be the end of the season as we know it.

Chabot out and new look 4th line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>Big doesn't necessarily mean good defensively, I would actually say that fast and feisty does (like Greig and Joseph). Size doesn't matter
Sokolov is terrible defensively apparently, Smejkal is like -10 in 7 games, I don't know man. I think our 4th line this season is destined to suck. Dorion thought that the most recognizable names possible = the better so he added Tarasenko and Kubalik</div></div>
Smejkal has picked it up the last few games. He's also been battling the NA ice but he's coming around. Him and Crooker need a shot in the big leagues over Kelly and MacEwan. Kelly is just infuriating at this point. Or maybe it's just DJ's deployment of them...
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike7856</b></div><div>Hopefully when Kasty comes back, they throw a 4th line of Smejkal-Kastelic-Sokolov. All big bodies and can work the defence down low along the boards. Love me some heavy 4th lines lol with some skill though</div></div>
Sokolov is too slow and not offensively skilled enough to make a difference in the NHL unfortunately. He looks like he's skating in molasses half the time... he's also not that physical and can't get to where he needs to be quick enough to have that "grinder" factor. Great shot though.

New D Pairs with Chabot back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Counting the days til Greig is back. Huge difference maker on that 3rd line. A speedy forward who can forecheck and backcheck and is a sneaky good playmaker. He's literally exactly what Terry needs. Liked Chartier on the 4th line to start the year, but he's so far out of his depth in that role.
Also it's high time to be done with the Kubalik thing. Brings nothing to the table in this lineup. Get what you can and bring in a cheap two way 3rd liner.</div></div>
Exactly, Chartier is nice in the 4th line PK role but give me Greig all day every day.
Kubalik has shown he can put the puck in the net from time to time but he is literally a black hole out there. Invisible for a guy who's 6'2". He also suffers from having no one able to retrieve the puck for him.

We are not making the playoffs without a brand new Head Coach
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>That and probably a new goaltender</div></div>
Hilariously, Korpi and Forsberg have been good/decent enough and far from the actual issues of having zero structure in the D zone. They are asked to make 40-45 saves a night, 46 of which are high danger scoring chances. Both goalies have a high GSAA. However, you are playing against the odds when you are consistently being put in awful situations and always asked to make at least 1 ten bell save a shift.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boodin</b></div><div>They were so lost its hard to just say its an L. Especially against a division rival, really speaks to how they may perform in the offseason if we ever see it.</div></div>
What's also frustrating is that we're in the exact same position as we were at the end of the November in the previous 6 years <strong>again</strong> (last in the division and conference). Consistently awful to start. Now, advanced stats tell a different story but how many times have we said that? "oh it'll even out eventually". Eventually ends up being more than half way through the season and out of the playoffs <strong>again</strong>.

Rangers trade
I feel like Kakko is just a little too inconsistent for my liking to swap him for Batherson (who is also inconsistent but is a proven top 6 forward on a bargain deal). Schneider for Bran would be good but I doubt NYR would make that swap. Goodrow is being paid a lot to play 3rd-4th line minutes when we have MacEwan who is going to pass by waivers with nary a thought...
In theory it works for both squads... in reality it looks a little unbalanced... interesting idea though!

I feel like that's Lou's MO though; all those NTC's on older players. Mayfield/Pulock would be an interesting add for Ottawa but that's a lot of money + term for some aging RHD. Good solid partners for our young LHD.

I don't think it's wise for Ottawa to trade any more 1st round picks. Konecny would be a nice add and would fit in nicely, but an extension would need to be in place prior to the trade. Can't risk trading away more of the future for 1 year of Konecny.

I remember the talk around Jake Sanderson and how it wasn't really what Ottawa needed. I kind of agreed considering we had both Chabot and Brannstrom at the time thinking they would be the future 1-2 LHD for years to come... man what a stud Sanderson is...
Would Dorion have gone after Chychrun even harder?

One of these days we just might have a GM we can be proud of
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>The 2 moves Murray got mostly bashed for was Spezza and Bishop
But Spezza was aging and had back problems, plus nixed a trade to Nashville. He was going to need a new contract that would make him overpaid and that's exactly what happened. Sens got Chiasson (who had good potential), Nick Paul and a 2nd in return, not the disaster some painted. Maybe if the fanbase didn't massively scapegoated Spezza, he would have not asked for a trade... duh
Bishop returned Conacher and a pick BEFORE he made his mark in the NHL. Sens got Bishop for just a 2nd in the first place, so hardly a crippling trade tree.
Opposedly, he did A LOT of good moves for the Sens (Methot, MacArthur, Gonchar, Kovalev, Ruutu, Anderson, Karlsson, trades, signins and draft in general, etc). He rebuilt the team on the fly, they made the playoffs in 5/9 seasons and won 3 rounds (2016-17 was Murray's team)
And then started to destruct almost immediately</div></div>
I remember the day he made the Phaneuf trade. What a move. Two veteran GM's making a massive 9 player deal that benefited both teams. It was botched by Dorion eventually by choosing not to protect Meth over Ceci... and then Ceci for Zaitsev and Connor Brown... and then CB for a 2nd... and then Zaitsev and a 2nd for future considerations...
Sigh... you and I have had some disagreements about Dorion... but looking back... Dorion never got this team over the hump. Call it Melnyk, call it bad injury luck... but there were a lot more questionable moves than good ones.
