That said, your last part of the sentence is incredibly incorrect. Korchinski is a very highly valued 19 year old defender in the NHL, not easy to do, and he is worth WAY more than a middle 6 winger not to mention throwing in a 2nd rounder. I wouldn't do Korchinski straight up for Zegras and doubt the Hawks or other teams in the hawk's position would either.</div></div>
Korchinski is youngest D in NHL too.

Yes he was a ppg last year, and has a 63 pt season the yr before, but hes on pace for less than 60 pts, and thats not good for a 9mil player.
At 31 hes not falling off a cliff, but I somehow doubt he gets back to a ppg pace ever again and for 9 mil thats not good value.</div></div>
Skinner is classically/historically inconsistent. His point totals fluctuate wildly. It’s tough to say if he’s aging and slowing down or if this is just one of his down seasons and we see the return of the 30 goal/60 point player next year.

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That
I do think Korch and Nazar should be in Rockford next year. I know some folks think Nazar can and should go back for a third year at Michigan but I’m curious if NCAA vs AHL is better for his growth.
Dont mind the signings. Appreciate you sticking to the plan of 1-2 year overpay contracts for veterans who can be flipped.
I think Kaiser has a leg up on EDM for a roster spot though. EDM and Allan will likely be injury call ups all season long just like Crev and Phillips were.
I wonder if Reichel would sign a Hagel deal, 3yr $1.5M. I’d guess not since he has to believe he’ll improve and if he does he’s screwing himself. But if he does improve depending on the state of affairs Hawks could also flip him like they did Hagel and get more future pieces.

Walker I can see fitting in more until Rinzel (and fingers crossed Levshunov) are ready.</div></div>
I wouldn't expect Hayes and Slaggert to be in the NHL next year.

Don't think Hawks are interested in Fabbri. It depends what they plan to do with Taylor Raddysh. But with Athanasiou back from injury and Taylor Hall coming back next year from his knee injury that's as if they got 2 new players. Theres the emergence of Kurashev and Reichel will get another middle 6 opportunity to succeed. Foligno and Dickinson were resigned already. They could consider it but there are possibly better options and they may want someone a little more potent for Bedard.

Hawks absolutely do not need a LD. They have Vlasic and Korchinski in top 2 spots and then Del Maestro, Allan, Phillips, Crevier, and Kaiser who can all fill in the bottom spot.
Only way this happens is if you give the Hawks a draft pick and then we buy him out. Alternatively, you should just buy him out if you don't want him. It'll cost you $333,333 against the cap for 2 seasons.

That's not how rounding works anyway. I know it's been 20+ years since I was in school. But I'm pretty sure math hasn't changed that much.
If the number is higher than 5, round up.
If the number is lower than 5, round down.
Given your dealing with TOI. The TOI of 19:33 rounds with the number 33, not 19, so it would round DOWN to 19 minutes not up to 20.
So ergo NOT 1/3.</div></div>
Well… 33 seconds is past the halfway point of a minute so you’d round up to 20 technically.

Same. Could probably send Lee and 2nd without retention and we'd accept. $7M for 2 seasons helps the cap floor.

True but he is a very good player when healthy. It would be a gamble. and $8M now solves the cap floor issue, but in 4 years it causes the cap ceiling issue.

Game changer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I think it should be more than that. This is still 5 million against the cap for a year. A 2nd is where I'd place it. It's not the 6+ million of Marleau, but it's not the 800k we're eating to have made the Lybushkin deal possible.</div></div>
To clarify, Marner would go to the Hawks with his full $10.9M, then the Hawks would retain 50% (so 5.45M) to go to Carolina? Toronto is not retaining?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>That was more than 6 million in a flat cap, you're not going to get a 1st for 5 mill in retention with the cap starting to jump again. Bad comparable, look more closely to the Bailey dump, since that was actually slightly more than the Marner retention would be.
Either way it doesn't matter because Necas + for rental Marner is a beyond stupid premise to begin with.</div></div>
I lean more towards your side on this. Recent history is 3rd 4th or 5th to be the third wheel in these deals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Hawks probably decline. It's a fair offer but Hall is one of only 4 legit top 6 forward options the Hawks have. They probably want to either play him on the top line w/ Bedard and Kurashev, or if the Hawks keep the Foligno/Bedard/Kurashev line together for next season, Hall and Anthanasou can anchor an improved 2nd line for the Hawks. Can't see them moving Hall before the TDL unless he asks to be traded.</div></div>
I agree. I think it’s a good offer. I’d accept it if I thought I was able to pick up another top 6 forward via FA or trade.

Twitter Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>I can understand the idea behind such a trade. Farber is looking like a true number 1 and Rossi as a great top 6. The big question is to you you a generational forward number 1 for this? If I am Chicago, personally I say no because I think Bedards are harder to come by. But at the same time some GMs look to value Defense more and a trade like is is a start.... I say no and think Chicago says no but interesting to say the least.</div></div>
Yeah I agree I think this is an easier no than if you exchanged Bedard with another elite but not quite generational player as I said in my post. Hockey more so than football and basketball is much more of a team sport. For as good as Bedard is, he doesn't even play 1/3 of the game. Football, we've seen what Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes can do. Basketball we see what guys like Lebron James can do. They can literally change games and seasons. Bedard is obviously special and can in fact change games but hockey you need more of a team. McDavid is best player in the world and hasn't even gone to the finals. Ovechkin has only won a single Stanley Cup. So for me, I'm building a team, not just playing my best player. And if you're going to offer me 2 all-star level players for 1, I'm thinking about it.

This is intriguing because you know everyone is going to come on here and **** on you for saying this. But if you're a real GM sitting in a real GM chair I think you pull your people into a meeting and you discuss how Rossi and Faber project and if the two outweigh the other.
That said, I would say no. I think Bedard is too special. If it was someone like Stutzle or J Hughes I'd consider it even more.
