Does it make sense to resign a soon to be 28 year old who is gonna ask for at least $6M AAV, over adding a 23 year old with a higher ceiling and 4.6 hit for the next 3 years? I don't think that makes more sense.

Chytil has totally flopped as a center and is in the dog house? Rangers down the middle have Mika, Strome, and Goodrow? I'd argue they are strong. They have no established top 6 RW.. Phil can still really play and he's a proven playoff performer.. I think he'd really help the Rangers and makes lots of sense

I disagree. Chychrun is a win now and later move, given his age and reasonable cap hit. Even with the assets going out the Ducks still have a loaded pipeline. Mahura doesn't play (despite that I think he's good).. even with this trade the Ducks are still loaded with Zellweger, BOG, and Perreault on the way. Chrychrun is also insurance for if Lindholm walks at the end of the year (also Lindholm is gonna ask for $6 mil plus AAV, so replacing him with an equal to higher ceiling player for 4.6). Anything is possible for this team when Gibson is on his game and top 4 going into this year's playoffs of Chychrun, Lindholm, Fowler, Drysdale is great. IDK, i think it makes tons of sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rangsey</b></div><div>I think I'm missing something here... What's Crouse's deal? I get he's the coveted UFA this year but Goodrow and Coleman were 2 years on bargain deals. And Savard was an experienced RHD playing top minutes.
What makes Crouse and automatic 1st rounder + good prospect? Esp with no retention or anything</div></div>
Crouse isn't UFA, he's RFA so he's still under team control. He's only 1.5 against the cap so is a bargain deal. Watch a couple Yotes games and you'll get it, he's a super physical power forward, skates very well for his size. He's been productive despite being on a historically terrible team.. his centers the last three seasons have been a dying Derek Stepan and Johan Larsson. He's also a natural leader, always sticks up for teammates, willing go into every "hard" area of the ice. Also we have an award here in AZ given out by the local hockey writers called the "Shane Doan Good Guy Award" that is given to the player who treats the community, fans, and media with the most kindness and respect.. Crouse got it this year. On the Bolts he's a plug and play 25 goal winger.. he's like much higher ceiling Pat Maroon. A prospect and 1st would be well worth the investment

Different situations. Chychrun is 4.6 mil, not 10. Chychrun hasn't demanded a trade.. Eichel did. Krebs is a center he's a better prospect than either Tippet or Denisenko

chychrun idea when healthy
I think there a lot of flaws with your thought process and I don't think that the Eichel trade is as good an analog as people think it is. First, I don't think the Coyotes would be interested in a Tuch like comparable. First, Buffalo was very concerned with getting someone who wanted to be in Buffalo.. Tuch being from Western NY and willing to be in Buffalo was a big deal... AZ doesn't have that concern. Second, Buffalo is further along in the rebuild and has many more piece in place (Dahlin, Cozens, Power, Quinn) where adding a young vet like Tuch makes sense. AZ is going down to the studs.. someone 25 years old is too old.. that player would be 30 when the rebuild is ending and out of their prime
Second, Chychrun is cost controlled at 4.6 rather than Eichels 10. The conditions on the picks coming from Vegas would not have been there if Buffalo had been willing to retain.. where as with Chychrun his cap number is so low there's no such concern.
Third, Eichel had demanded a trade which forced Buffalo's hand. Chychrun has not requested a trade.. and to be honest the Coyotes are listening they aren't even shopping him. Coyotes have no incentive to move Chychrun unless they have their doors blown off.
I don't MTL is as a fit given their lack of a absolute blue chip prospects that they would be willing to move and the knowledge that any first rounders would likely protected.

Well then their thought process is incorrect. Canada can't be trusted when it comes to the Coyotes. I'd really limit my trust to Craig Morgan and Coyotes fans on this.

Lawson Crouse at 5v5 this season Scoring chances for vs against 169/154 52.32% High Danger chances for/against 68/60 53.13% - so he's actually quite a positive defensive player on a historically bad team. He's also 6th on the team in PP ice time so he's not getting massive special teams run to "inflate" his offense. He's a terrific burgeoning power forward that if he played with a real center would have even better numbers.
Idk maybe watch a Coyotes game and do a little research before talking down on a player :)

As a Coyotes fan I'm gonna say I don't think this gets it done.. this is quantity over quality. Priskie has no value, Tippet while a nice young player is only 1 year younger than Chychrun and he's RFA so he's not cost controlled.. Denisenko is a nice prospect but he's a fringe panthers top 5 prospect and he's not a center. The 2022 1st might as well be a 2nd given how good the Panthers are, and the 2023 2nd is exactly what it is... a second.
If I'm the Coyotes I say "It starts with Lundell and I really don't care about anything else" ... I don't want a pupu platter. I'm not trading Chychrun unless I'm getting a potential top 6 center who is under 21.

People said Kessel wouldn't waive and he did, people said Stralman wouldn't waive and he did. Az isn't Winipeg, it's an amazing place to live, some players enjoy less media attention, tons of players have retired there (Ray Whitney, Derek Morris, Roenick all still live there), heck even McDavid trains there in the summer now in Scottsdale. Also he'd a chance to play real minutes in AZ unlike Calgary where Sutter doesn't approve of his play and as I've noted he's 10th in ice time among forwards.

His one ice production disagrees with you. 1 goal in 21 games, 45.45% xG at 5v5 which *checks notes* is very bad - high danger chances at 5v5 this year at 70 against to 40 .. he's getting caved in.. the islanders are always hungry to improve and they don't have money to do it with unless they move out money.. Bailey is the only money to move out that makes sense but he's not a valuable player anymore, unless something changes

Re: Monahan, he’s currently 10th in ice time per game among flames forwards - the only line up regulars playing less minutes than him at Milan Lucic, Dillon Dube and Trevor Lewis. He has only 4 goals in 28 games and is a -9 on team with a +25 goal differential. He's essentially now a 4C making almost 7 million on a team that needs to resign Johnny G, Mangianpane, Tkachuk, and replace half of their defense and only have 30 million to do it.
Re Bailey: the islanders have 13 mil in cap space next year with with Noah Dobson to resign and 3 defenseman spots to fill. He has 1 goal in 21 games this year. He’s 32????
Re: Dadanov: Vegas only has 2 mil in cap space next year and that is without resigning Smith, McNabb, Janmark and replacing literally ALL of their depth.
But sure go off king
