Next Year
I like your contracts logic, especially for Primeau and Pezzetta and your other moves make sense to me.
But I wouldn't (and I do believe he resigns in PIT) sign Letang, care to explain the logic there? The team likely won't compete so why bring in a great RD except maybe leadership?
Great AGM!

Is Lundkvist already an expendable asset to the NYR? Because that habs gladly take that swap 1 for 1 without the 4th.

Habs Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>Since we seems to have common understanding of teams needs based on their development stages, I would be interested in where do you see Petry go. I only see 2 destinations:
DAL - Fighting for a playoff spot, they need to trade Klingberg at TDL or loose him for nothing (pass on that return would be stupid) . Petry would be a good cheap (value wise) replacement and a good fit. They have leadership and capspace.
PIT - Might be their last push for a cup. A fast puck moving RHD would fit nicely in their system, even if Burkie might not be fond of his physicality. They have no capspace, so money (Marino+retention?) Would need to go back the other way. Short term win, long term lost. But you owe it to Sid.
Bonus one:
CLB - young team not spending big, Bean and Boqvist on the roster already, but they do like older players with a geographical connection and term (Voracek, Roslovic). Like Nashville, it doesn't fit the GM philosophy much, but I see a fit.
Thoughts?</div></div>
All your points are valid, I honestly have no idea of where Petry might go. As a habs fan, seeing him play this season really doesn't scream "quality piece to trade" especially at that price tag. There's the money issue but also the term issue. He isn't getting any younger and if he keeps playing like that, no team will want to take that big of a risk despite his past success.
I guess we'll see but for now, I really believe Petry ends the season here and you try to find a nice fit in the summer when maybe some teams missed out on free agents or something like that...

Habs Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>I see what you did with your Petry trade: A bit under the Ellis trade value, which make sense.
IMO Petry would fit nicely in Nashville for a long playoff run and he would not oppose his NTC since the city is not far from Michigan.
But I dont think Nashville would do such lateral move. If they tought they needed a high paid veteran RHD, they would have kept Ellis instead of trading him away less than a year ago.
So good trade on paper, but not realistic with Poile in charge.</div></div>
My exact thoughts when people talk about Petry to NSH.

Would NSH be interested in a player like Drouin half retained for a guy like Myers and maybe a late pick? Kind of like a 1.5 year rental.

Agree with most of these except Drouin and Petry that I would also try to move for the right price.
And as you said, these obviously aren't all made this year or even in the summer, but over around 2 seasons.

After This Season
I agree with most of this, except for the Dvorak trade that I wouldn't do. He's a better player than he showed so far this season, and if we do draft a centerman (Savoie, Wright or Cooley) he could act as a great stopgap for a rookie, like Danault did with KK and Suzuki last year. His contract is also very manageable.

Getting some picks
Good thinking on all of these. Pretty realistic.
I'd be interested to see what we do with Lehkonen too this deadline. He's a super hard worker and a great exemple for the kids to look at, but he also is what a lot of contender teams would want for a deep playoff run. If the return is better than the value of a 3rd, I would consider moving him at the deadline instead of in the summer.

I would have interest in that deal. More a puck mover than Kulak and on a more cost-controlled deal for a younger player.

Is Scandella such a problem? To me, him and Eddy are similar players with similar deals. You would really be happy with giving up 2 2nds, 2 3rds just to get Eddy back and get rid of Marco?

Trade for a D
My thoughts exactly.
The defense as is will need a big jump from a guy like Romanov to stay competitive. I like your idea of Miller, and BUF would probably be willing to part ways. As a non-trade option I would also like a guy like Sami Vatanen, provided he stays healthy enough. Good puck mover but doesn't quite have the physicality you were refering to.
We'll see!
