Beck is now very high in MTL prospect pool after his OHL playoffs run. Can't see him in a Hart trade.
PHI is reportedly asking for two 1st for Hart. Maybe FLA 2023 1st and MTL 2023 2nd is enough, but that's alot for a goalie.

Montreal Canadiens signed Sean Monahan (1 Year / $2,000,000 AAV)
No GM would have signed him long term anyway, he's going to prove he can stay healthy this season and sign long term with a contender next summer.
He'll play 3C and have PP time with Suzuki and Caufield on their RW, just like he did last season.

Bob Hartley said he texted him today and Monahan was about to jump on the ice to skate.
He'll be healthy to start the season, but will he remain healthy for the whole season? Who knows.

I'd rather try Carter. Hrabal is at least 4 years away from the NHL. Suzuki and Caufield will be mid contract by then.

I saw somewhere Flyers are looking for two 1st for Hart. 2023 31th and 37th should be enough.

Trading 5th overall pick for 5 years of Keller isn't a good idea. MTL would waste 2 of those 5 years anyway because they wouldn't make the playoffs.

48 goals in his last 83 games. I wouldn't bet against him scoring 40 in a full season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Seems a little steep. Carolina can ice Svechnikov - Aho - Necas for 18 million for example and then role out Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis which is an entire top six for not that much more. Combine that with of Dach playing out of position as a natural center, there's a lot of questions. It's a line that's fine going forward, but struggles defensively. It's also a line that has been inconsistent in its production. Committing 25% of the salary cap to it seems... rough</div></div>
With Aho and Necas due for a raise next summer, it'll be way more than 18 million. MTL really screwed Carolina over with the 5 years on Aho.
Many Leafs fans are wondering today how MTL can sign their player to friendly long term contract while they can't.
Caufield and Suzuki contract will look great in 2-3 seasons when MTL is ready to compete.

The way i see it, Caufield-Suzuki-Dach is a good balanced top 6 line for less than 20M total. That's good for MTL.

I could see the KHL releasing Michkov 1-2 years earlier if there's a deal where Ovechkin is going to the KHL in 3 years after his NHL contract ends.
Caps would get 1 or 2 full seasons of Ovechkin and Michkov together.

MTL would offer more than that for Durzi. Him and Suzuki played 4 years together on the same teams in the OHL.

You do realize what Meier and horvat just went for as rentals right? A 1st will be only a part of a larger package for dubois, even as a rental.</div></div>
Horvat extended with his new team. Meier still had 2 years as a RFA, NJ knew they could flip him if they can't extend him. Trouba is a better comparable.

If MTL pass on Michkov at 5, it's because Nick Bobrov have doubts about Michkov coming to the NHL. He could then fall out of top 10 IMO.

It is sooooo risky. Just pick your guy. When you draft in the top 5 the prospect pool is limited. Each team will have their favorite guy.</div></div>
I would keep 5 if Smith is available. If not, however the draft goes, one of Benson/Michkov/Moore/Dvorsky/Reinbacher will be available at 9. I'd be fine with any of those, and MTL add another 1st.

STL have the 10th overall and two late 1st (Dallas and Toronto). I would do 10 + one of those 1st for 5.
Bobrov is the most connected NHL scout in the KHL. If he says we should pass, i think we should pass. Otherwise, i agree we should pick Michkov.

We should also move our 2nd and 3rd for the 1st TOR has (BOS pick) and then we end up with four 1sts this year.
We also have three 4ths and two 5ths so moving up later in the draft can happen and we really condense the quality of our picks this draft.</div></div>
18 might be too much to move from 9 to 5, but that would be great. Maybe MTL add a 2nd or 3rd to balance it out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>minatex123</b></div><div>I like your comment about trading down to get Dvorsky or David Reinbacher, if they don't want Mitchkov. I'm actually interested in both of these players but when you have the chance to get generational talent like Mitchkov, the Habs always prefer the guy who looks good on camera. For example, the year of KK, I wanted so much for them to take Tkachuk, but the Canadiens prefers the goody two shows.</div></div>
I want Michkov if there's no doubt he's coming to the NHL in the next 3 years. But if they're not sure he's coming, i'd rather let someone else make that mistake and trade down for Reinbacher/Dvorsky. Reinbacher would be my choice, i think he'll be a 1RD.
In 2018, i wanted Quinn Hughes. Tkachuk was my 2nd choice. Both would have been way better pick than KK.

If Kent Hughes and Nick Bobrov don't want Michkov, MTL should trade down and draft one of Reinbacher/Dvorsky with a lower top 10 pick and add a late 1st/high 2nd.
Would WSH, DET or STL want to move up to draft the player they really want? WSH is interested in Michkov, and DET/STL have their eyes on Moore.
What would they give for MTL 5th overall pick?
