<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>all of this is true but moot. 1.6 goalis /60 doesnt help if he indirectly and directly is responsible for more goals against per 60 minutes. Over 82 games thats a net negative, which would be bad enough without factoring in how badly the forwards need more defensive help in the top 9.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Please forgive me as I copy my most recent Olofsson comparison:
"Olofsson is bashed by nearly everyone on this site, including Sabre fans" and you are by far the most egregeous trying to justify he is only worth a seventh.
"He is included in trades not because he is a dump or bad but because Buffalo has Kulich, Savoie, Benson, Ostlund etc who will earn 1/5 of his currently salary next year.
I have absolutely no idea what Olofsson will bring if the Sabres decide to trade him.
Some team looking for goals at the TDL will give the Sabres at least a second if not more, providing he is producing as well as he did last year.
You do know over the last four seasons Boeser has played 583:45 more minutes than Olofsson but has one less goal (80 v Olofsson's 81).
Two seasons since they both signed new contracts each Boeser goal cost $309,302 while each Olofsson goal cost $197,917.
Last season Brock played over 60% of the time with one of Miller, Horvat or Petterson as his line mate.
Conversly, last season Victor played only 10% of the time with our top two centers Cozens or Thompson.
Most NHL fans would think Brock is worth a first or more.
Last season Olofsson had more goals than DeBrincat yet Victor played 483 fewer minutes.
Neither of Victor nor Alex are noted for their defense, but Alex certainly returned a bundle.
Of his 28 goals, 21 were EV, 7 were PP, 5 were GW, 3 were empty net.
In contrast:
Ovechkin had 42 goals, 28 EV, 14 PP, 3 GW, and 6 empty net.
Boeser had 18 goals, 12 EV, 6 PP, 3 GW, and 1 empty net.
Debrincat had 27 goals, 18 EV, 11 PP, 6 GW and 1 empty net.
A lower percentage PP of the other three as no one calls any of them PP specialists.
Only 37 forwards (two other Sabres Tuch and Thompson) had more GW goals than he, which appears to be a very good thing.
If a player is on the ice when there is an empty net is that a good thing? Does the coach value his capabilities to prevent a goal as well as score one?
Finally, only 22 NHL forwards scored at a faster rate than Victor's 1.6 goals/60 last year.
This is not to say Victor is better or even as good as Alex, just making the point that he is a very good sniper, and it is unlikely Buffalo would just give him away.</div></div>
First let’s ask the question, why is Victor Olafsson still here, and let alone, still getting opportunities?
The answer is simple. Olafsson is here still, only because Jack Quinn got hurt, and going back to last year, the team has been giving him opportunities because they are trying to boost his trade value.
Believe me, the Sabres know he’s a void and drags down every other line he plays on. The Cozens line will continue to be void as long as he’s on it, and either until Quinn returns, or the team signs Patrick Kane.
Problem is, every other team knows it too.
The bottom line is; Victor Olafsson has NO value.
He’s a power play specialist similar to Daniel Sprong who is being force fed more minutes than he should be playing because the team is trying to increase his trade value.
And given the fact that there are only six to eight teams that might be able to fit his contract on their cap payroll, it only brings his value down further.
Victor Olafsson even at 2.375m has no value.
I would bet on it that Victor Olafsson would easily clear waivers at a 4.75 million cap hit and the Sabres would be way better off dressing Jost, or promoting Krebs to center the Cozens line with JJ and Cozens on the wings or promoting Kulich.
Way better options exist than Victor Olafsson, and he will indeed be traded for a late round pick at best with 50% retained, or waived if they can’t find a suitor, and I think he will find his way to the press box sooner than later in favor of Tyson Jost

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>No, thanks. Gibson's four-season term is extremely valuable to the Ducks because it's a bridge to Anaheim's opening window of contention.</div></div>
That means nothing if Gibson's demand to be traded is true as is being reported. Teams very rarely ever hold onto a player on principle once it gets to the stage where the player refuses to suit up for them again. At this point, the Ducks will have to look at cutting their losses and get whatever they can because Gibson's mediocre stats for the past few years, cap hit and trade demand has reduced Anaheim's leverage to zero.

I mean it should. Its not a lot to ask on the buyers side to have say top 10 protection on the pick they give up. That sort of mentality is how Stutzle wound up on the sens. No shade at hart, but he is far from a lock, and far from being the kind of player who would warrant not having any trade protection.

(MTL/DAL) - Dadonov for Gurianov

You're literally ignoring the rest of our conversation where I already mentioned (literally 1 minute ago) where he had to continue his form. Hughes could've got a 4th Round pick, but opted with Gurianov instead which is a nice gamble IMO based on where he was a year ago.
Was Dadonov a cap dump? No
Was Dadonov a negative asset? No
But please, inform me how I'm wrong.</div></div>
Of course he was a cap dump.
Vegas had to attach a 2nd to get rid of him before the trade didn't go through.
If he was a positive asset Vegas could've easily traded him for a pick. Like they did with Ryan Reaves.
Habs did Vegas a huge favor & should've gotten a pick back for taking his contract.
You had to retain 50% to trade for a guy that's a healthy scratch and barely plays. Like c'mon dude lol.
Why are you still trying to die on this hill

I completely disagree. Defensive d men play a huge part in great teams. Erik Cernak, Hjalmarsson, Brooks Orpik etc.. You can look at every stanley cup team and they have a guy like him.
He makes life a lot easier for Dahlin who is coincidentally having a norris caliber season.

A top pair defensive d man making 4.2M for the next 7 years what a steal.
