I agree, but, being a former 1st round pick and an RD, Lundqvists value was inflated. Had Dallas not gotten involved - the deal would have been Hoglander for Lundqvist, 1f1

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cnick19</b></div><div>I've seen Hoglander for Sandin from both fanbases, I'm not proposing that but would you say Hoglander's value is higher than like, a first and a third?</div></div>
I think Hoglander's value is equal to Nils Lundqvist's. The Canucks were heavily linked with the Rangers for such a swap. But then Dallas came in at the last minute and offered more value (a 1st in a very high-value draft. Similar to 2003/2015)
If the Canucks were to move Hoglander, it would. be for a crazy high price, or a very solid young RD (under the age of 28 & signed to a +3 year deal; or, Under the age of 24 & team controlled RFA with a year or two at a lower cap hit)

The Canucks don't need middle six wingers or centres. Our forward group is a tight fit as is. Hoglander is worth a lot, Pearson is not a cap dump (close to .5 PPG making sub 4M, net positive contract). The Canucks do not need Kerfoot. We need a young RD, someone like Lundqvist (minus the price paid for him).

Which forward-for-a-Dman trade do you prefer Canucks fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoWah49</b></div><div>Not a Canucks fan, but Pearson for Dillon seems to be the most rewarding</div></div>
I was about to say the same. Pearson is useful, but old. Hoglander is young and is worth keeping around. Garland is on such an efficient contract that we would need a defensemen who is on a similar deal in return - not one on an expiring deal. Pearson for Dillon might be in the Jets' favour, I think a small addition on their end would be appropriate; however, they are probably in greater need of keeping Dillon, than they are in need of a middle six winger.

I think somethings following me
The Coyotes plan on running Cooley, Hayton & McBain down the middle if everything goes as planned. Yes, they currently have Boyd & Schmaltz; however, those guys won't remain in Tempe for too long given that their contract-production correlation happens to be at premium levels for trading away. Once those two are moved, Cooley & Hayton will become close to locked in for the foreseeable future. McBain if anything could be pried away, but even so, his frame and work ethic are valued highly

stacked offense
Arizona has a "**** you" mentality when dealing with other teams. Either pay their price, or take a hike. Many give them flack for this, but it's highly effective. Look at what they did with EDM & NYR for minor cap dumps. Bill Armstrong is a man on a mission. Acquiring Chychrun will ruin any team's future (unless you're LAK). As for Hayton, he won't get moved. The Yotes are looking at Cooley, Hayton & McBain down the middle in the future Schmaltz's cap hit and term are too enticing not to move, so unless they receive a fantastic centre out of that deal - Hayton will remain in Tempe

Gazzola is rediculous
I think the premise with that take is that JV will come in at a cap hit above 750K. He's had ego problems in the past, I don't think he'd sign below 1M due to that. Depending on how long it takes for him to get a concrete offer/what teams have space left for him, this might change. If he comes in at the league minimum, you'll have no issues signing McLeod & JV through offloading Foegele alone

What would Jim Benning do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slapshot723</b></div><div>Really? I wouldn't bother. We have Cholowski, Aho, and Salo fighting for the last two spots on D. Let's see what we have with those guys before trading for someone like Soucy.</div></div>
Fair take. One thing I find intriguing about Soucy is that he had a .33ppg ratio, and was a +7 on a fairly underwhelming Seattle team. For a 3LD, I think he could be quite the luxury for any team, but especially so with the Islanders. Aho is a very good 7th D-man, Cholowski has upside but his work ethic and personal discipline has hurt his development, Salo is a guy I could see surprising many this season (he has to, it's his final year to do something before being coined a "bust"). These moves would all occur at the deadline. With the Islanders, I could see this season being one of those that I am certain Isles fans are quite accustomed to in recent years - everyone writes the Isles off, they outperform their projections, things go right for them, and come April, you're in the thick of things out East.

I don't know what type of fantasy you live in, but there's zero shot the canucks give up more than a 4th or 5th for Holl. After that playoff performance, maybe they'd even need to be paid to take that contract... LLeafs fans smh

Tucker Poolman and it isn't even close. We'll take a 3rd for him as well. Thanks!

My dry cleaner's cousin's husband is the ticket scanner for the Canucks - he says that the current top offer is Othmann, a 2023 top 10 protected 1st rounder, and Patrik Nemeth, and a conditional 2nd in 2024 (If JT signs its a 1st).

I wasn’t saying Zub was a bad player. He just isn’t someone the Canucks would consider in a trade for any of our major players. Yes, we need RHD. But a potential 4th D isn’t worth Boeser. Boes will most likely fetch us a first, and a prospect. Which I prefer over Zub.
