Is this reasonable for Dumba
Dumba’s numbers are down from previous years, so it may be opportune time to make the right offer to the Wild. I like the Leafs offered here. This is a balanced trade. However, a player like Dumba, 7th overall, with enormous upside practically demands a 1st to grab Guerin’s attention.
Minnesota seems to be spinning their wheels, another year looms as the club fails to make the post season. If the Wild are a playoff bubble team, then they will keep Dumba for their push, but if it is clear they are out by the end of February, that deal could happen.
Guerin has been patient, looking at his team weaknesses. I think if he does pull the trigger moving Dumba, it will most likely come in the off season.

Yes... Nylander got slightly overpaid... by like 300K, around 4% of the contract value... not this 20%ish rediculousness which makes him the 2nd highest paid winger in the league. There are overpaids and negotiations to get deals done and then there is Marners fairy land wishes. Negotiate in reality

Ah, too young to have seen Bobby Orr or Denis Potvin, eh? Or should we just put this down to excusable hyperbole in the context of the post?

Greatest Defenceman in hockey history? His name isn't even on that list get over it, that's an overpayment for Seth Jones when he can be signed via FA in 3 seasons, and yes he will leave Columbus via FA

MTL will probably not do that. Not giving a FIRST with the next draft in MTL. The only way they give a First is for a game-changing player like Laine ( in a huge trade).

It's not the same situation at all. Salaries are base league wide....not individual teams. Toews was on ELC for three years, then he signed a "nice" 5 year contract. His current deal is the one he got after being in the league after eight years. But if you think it's the same.....what a stretch.

What dubas will do to improve this team
Babcock is the most overrated coach in the league. This is his 4th straight 1st round exit. Anybody here could coach team Canada. He has on old time hockey mentality. I'm not even a Leafs fan nor an Islanders fan but Barry Trotz is the best coach in the league hands down. Look at how he put Nashville on the map, won a cup in Washington and turned the Islanders into a what could be a Cinderella team. He maximizes players potential and commands respect. His players buy into his system. Leafs need to hire a shrink to get Boston out of their heads and fire that dinosaur Babcock if they expect to advance. Players aren't the problem in Toronto.

Leafs=11.6 - Matthews, 11 - Taraves, 9? - Marner,6.9 - Nylander…..meanwhile in
Boston=7.2 - Krejci, 6.9 - Bergeron, 6.7 - Pastrnak, 6.1 - Marchand.....Or
TBay=9.5 - Kucherov, 8.5 - Stamkos, 5.8 - Callahan, 8+? - Point.....Or the

Phi=8.3 - Giroux, 8.2 - Voracek, 7 - JVR, 4.4 - Couturier
PLUS Dubas had known since Xmas that his playoff opponent was the Bruins and yet he still didn't prepare his team to be playoff ready for the B's (trading a good defensive 4th liner to Winnipeg for a smallish potentially skilled 4th liner, when he already had Ennis for that role...also not picking up DSP off waivers from Washington because he wanted to carry 3 extra Marlie Dmen, Marincin, Holl and Oz? ).</div></div>
Comparing contracts signed 3, 4, 5 or 6 years ago is lazy and embarrassing. Look at percentage of cap etc.

Now that kadri probably suspended
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>The knee on knee wasn't intentional. He was going for a big hit leading with the shoulder and their knees caught as he was trying to avoid the hit.
Boston physically was manhandeling the Leafs and the response was Kadri's bad penalty. Simple as that and Kadri will get suspended at least a game but likely more since it's not his first time.</div></div>
As a suggested, then the knee on knee was definitely a trip. Agree with you that the so called manhandling led to Kadri's response. But the point I was making why did the referees constantly allow the Bruins to hit late....which certainly in today NHL is interference, hit late and then grabbing constantly. So for that reason it's an easy win for the Bruins. It's similar when a the football team can't get a pass rush because the offensive line is allowed to hold. The "let 'em play" refereeing really goes against the rules of the games.

Earlier in the game, Krejci crushed Kadri from behind in the boards, and then the knee on knee,,, definitely a trip at least....wit no penalties. Bruins constantly were hit late and then holding Leaf penalties and no penalties . And Gauthier and Kapanen and penalties ? The NHL has favoured the Bruins for years, they seem to need a big US East Coast name team to go far in the playoffs.
The hit by Kadri reminded of what happened last year. Marner got run....similar to the Kuchervov hit....with no penalty, Kadri retaliates with a boarding and get a match and three games.

1st round exit
"What do you think about the move not to do ANYTHING in their big year before the cap crunch." Gee, I don't follow that logic. Since last April they acquired Tavares and Muzzin and Kapanen, Johnsson and Dermot are better than last year. So what's the panic? Yes they still could lose in the first round, but a few other "good" teams are might lose in the first round too.

Didn't they just go out and get Muzzin like a month ago and substantially upgrade their roster by adding Tavares not 8 months ago? It's not like they haven't done anything.

Got to over pay to get rid of Z
Nope. You dont have to overpay to get him. You would get very little in return for him. Im pretty sure teams around league would want Zaitsev. Any deal involving him going to some different team would be a win for that team trading for him. He is offensive minded Dman that plays with the worst defender defensively. I dont know what is Babcock thinking with that Gardiner-Zaitsev pairing but it surely is a bad pairing and both would benefit from other partners.. Zaitsev with Dermott looked like a changed man and was great defensively and offensively having gap work perfect and his passing game was where it was lastly in KHL. He needs to play with someone that doesnt look like a offensive forward in his own zone.. he would be very very good once he is with actual defenceman..
