Their actions are saying they are rebuilding. You tried to shop Parise that fell through at the deadline, multiple rumors of shopping Suter nothing has materialized as of yet. You traded a top 6 wing for what was basically a first round pick in 2021, a cap dump to make it work, and a future NHL Dman. Now after the year he had your looking per reports, to dump Dubnyk and hey what do you know Murray has been linked to your team. And given that your GM values him highly from his time in PGH well that is where rhe majority of your value comes from. Plus if you want to go with the "There just looking to make cap room!" Argument your dumping 10m in cap space. Bringing back 7.1 with 0 retention and one of them becomes an asset that either you can keep or flip. Not to mention a guy with middle 6 wing potential in McCann in the deal above that your team can either keep or trade. Your team isn't in "win-now" mode. If it was, it wouldn't have tried to trade Zucker for a year and then settled on dumping him for less then a top 6 winger return.

The Wild are are rebuilding chief. If you still are under the impression they are ready to compete now or are getting a top 6 Center right now? Yikes.

GMJR Puts The Band Back Together Other Rumours
In order:
Could probably get a second rounder from Minnesota given that gives them a young upside wing and a contract that comes off the books next year
What's the purpose of bringing back Fleury? To "Mentor" Jarry? Every yinzer alive already said Jarry is better then Murray so he doesnt need a mentor and the last thing this town needs is the "START FLEURY!" train pulling back into the station because they miss their buddy.
Where does Monteaur fit in?
Trading Bjorkvist possibly one of the only forwards we have that could be NHL ready in a season or so for the return of Hagelin is a really big no.
Why get "The band back together" when the last time the majority of "The Band" Was together we didnt advance beyond the second round?

Thats going to be a hard pass from the Penguins. Strome might help solve our Third line center problem but the backend was a massive issue as well and trading away our best defensive defensemen doesnt fix that or help it.

Fleury and trading both goalies
No. This is just more Yinzer pining for the olden days nonsense. Fleury is old, not to mention he never got the job done in PGH after 2009. And before you even try to bring up "But 2017! And Vegas in 2018!" Anomalies can happen and definitely have. How many times did 29 and company blow a 3-1 series lead in PGH? In 2013 he was replaced in the freaking first round by Vokun and never could win back his starting job. Then in 2014 when he was the starter he blew a 3-1 series lead against the Rangers who we were supposed to dispatch in 5/6 games easily. Then lets all remember the series of no save percentage in 2012 where he couldnt stop a puck to save his life. Then in 2011 another 3-1 series lead completely blown to the Lightning who at the time consisted of nothing more then a 1-3-1 System.

That guy also seems to be of the belief that Detroit is almost past the "Take on contracts to flip for draft capital." part of their rebuild.

Its a pass on the Penguins trade but its not a hard pass. Remove our first this year and your third and it would be very hard to say no. Bjugstads contract only has 1 year left at 4.1 Mil, Domi isnt worth Poulin our first and a 1 year Bjugstad dump.

Poulin isnt NHL ready and nobody forcasts him to be for at least another full season in the minors. POJ is probably ready for next season. The fact that this team needs Center help as it is currently constructed means we shouldnt be shipping out one of our top 6 forwards who meshed incredibly well with Sid. Pipeline is needed to be stocked so when the team next goes tanking we can have a cast ready to come along and have a young team ready to go.

Not sure that I would make a Zucker for Hall swap. While I fully agree Hall is better overall Im just not sold on Fillpula being our 3C. IF you want to dump Zucker and Murray we should be looking for a first round pick as some form of return.

McCann also was a healthy scratch for Lafferty which to be frank wasnt a good look and seems like he is in the inescapable Sullivan Dog house. Not to mention McCann is more of a winger then a center. Center is the position of need for the team. Having said all of this yeah I would agree McCann holds more value than Lowry. Throw in Bjugstad because again, Winnipeg values size and he is on the last year of his deal and he is probably a bit less then Lowry hence the "Add a pick going back" portion of this.

Johnson gives you a player with term you can dangle in front of Seattle for their expansion Team and Murray has more value in him to your team as a franchise goalie. A late second really isnt asking all that much.

Pittsburgh Blockbuster
The moment you add both Marino AND the number 15 pick going the other way is the moment GMJR just starts laughing. Then asks if your serious, starts laughing again and then ends the call. Nylander would be a great add to the top 6 but the biggest thing this team needs to help fix itself (on the Pittsburgh end) is help on the back end. Subtracting Marino who is quite possibly our replacement for Letang is only adding even more issues to be replaced on the back end. You want Marino and a number 1 AND Rust? Your taking Johnson and Bjugstad and bringing us back at least a 2 and 3.

4.1m against a flat cap right now? Even though we got 13m of space to sign our own it is pretty bad. Especially since he has done next to nothing since the deal. McCann has saved that trade from being a bust.

Winning #1 hardly seems like a nightmare. That's a better outcome than going out in the playin and not getting #1. It's even better than, yeah, better than winning the Cup.</div></div>
Part of the reason why I put the word Nightmare in quotation marks below in the discription. Because while losing to Montreal in round 1 would be a bitter pill to swallow still get the best prospect to build towards the future.
As for Jarry getting 3m at that point with what happens after he looks like a shell. Team is desperate to retain him and just throws more money at him (And we cant say it wont be done cause... Johnson.... Pettersson the Pylon... the Reaves trade. Our GM can definitely make bad signings or trades.)
