Sabres aren’t looking to trade Mitts, so to make it happen (in real life), i think it’s safe to assume we’d want something u don’t wanna give up (think Schneider)
It would probably be a hard deal to pull off though,
bc i doubt we’d be interested in “futures”
We’d want player(s) that help us win now, & are young enough to fit into our core- which obviously u guys wouldn’t wanna give up
Probably more likely u look at a “rental” type player u can get for draft picks

If we could find that type player now, that would be great
Pretty sure he was LH, but a righty version of him would be great
Hell, a right handed version of Lydman or McKee would fit great as well !

We should pass on this idea
Zegras is just another forward that puts up points & doesn’t play defense- we already have enough of those
We gotta build a team that can win in the playoffs,
not an “AllStar” team

Better fit for Future
Buffalo says that's not happening. They probably wouldn't trade Tuch for Nylander straight up far less add Power, Peterka or a 1st... Not unless Nylander comes with an extension for a lot less than 10 mil per year.
Before Toronto fans say but Nylander is the better player, Tuch is pretty good with 3 more years at a very team friendly $4.75 million a year while Nylander is a pending UFA looking for an extension paying him more than double what Tuch makes. 4 goals and 8 points more isn't even close to worth 5+ million.

Umm, an offersheet with that contract is a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd. ANA fans are really crazy.
Luukkonen, Ukko-Pekka
Olofsson, Victor
Östlund, Noah
2024 1st round pick (BUF)
2025 2nd round pick (BUF)
2026 3rd round pick (BUF)
Can we see how that is an overpayment, or no?
BUF will offersheet him if they want him, pretty simple.
And to people saying .... oh Power, Dahlin....JJP, etc...
BUF has a super strong locker room. These players do not want to leave. They want to win Cups in BUF. They aren't signing with another team.
If everyone wants to avoid the offersheet stigma, then it is pretty simple:
Zegras <> 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Because what team in their right mind gives up more than they have to to acquire him??

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>I understand your point, and in general I agree, Buffalo doesn’t really need Trevor Zegras anyway. But Boston in particular has nothing for prospects. Their farm system is practically bone dry which I find hilarious. Yes, they have a couple top end prospects, but they need them to play right now so they can stay under the cap.</div></div>
I was gonna say pretty much that about the Bruins. That's what happens in a flat cap league, where you have been very good for years, and you can't be guaranteed high end talent outside of the top 5-10 picks in the draft. The Sabres are gonna be linked to all the shiny toys for a bit, lots of high end prospects and at least some cap room. If you are selling a talented young player, Buffalo should be your first call.

BUFF36 trade idea with SEATTLE
Oh and it wasn't my trade proposal. It was originally a 2nd for Mitts from a Seattle fan and I said I don't think Buffalo would trade him for a late 2nd which Seattle's pick has a good chance of being later in the 2nd. I just countered if it came to it I would rather have Borgen than the 2nd.

Zegras
1- Gibson has been bad for 4 straight years now
He’s not the right guy to bring stability to our net, he’s the opposite at this point. It’s been a long time since he’s put up good #s, and is just way too risky- especially considering what the Ducks would want for him
2- Zegras is a good player, BUT he just brings more of what we already have- good offensively but doesn’t play defense.
If we were building an AllStar team he’d be a perfect fit, but we should learn from the Leafs & build a more well rounded team that can win in the playoffs
I’d pass on both Ducks players

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Believing AHL Goalie Comrie is the same as Future NHL Starter Vladar is what's laughable. Comrie cashed in after finally having one decent year as a backup in WPG, but he's been terrible otherwise. BUF will end up burying Comrie in the minors and will be looking for another Goalie for sure
Stillman sucks, so go ahead and keep him. Only reason I took him back was for BUF taking Rooney off our hands and as a replacement for Gilbert who I sent to replace Lyubushkin's Physicality. I immediately flipped Stillman away anyways, so he's not an attractive addition
Where does Lyubushkin fit in after signing Clifton & Johnson!? I bet Lyubushkin or Jokiharju get waived and claimed for free, otherwise BUF will have to pay to bury them, so they might as well retain on and get something for them</div></div>
Vladar blows
We aren’t looking for a “future starter” anyways, we have Levi
And Vladar is a mediocre backup, not a future starter
We might trade a defenseman
We might carry 8 & just send down Bryson
Congrats on having ZERO workable knowledge on our team
Wouldn’t take those guys you’re offering…. for free
They’re garbage, we have better
No thanks

Just to add to comment. If Sabres are the sell mode at TDL, a responsible forward like Tatar would get return

Buffalo isn’t making that trade anyway. They are not bringing in a veteran goaltender that would block Devon Levi from taking the job when he is ready to do it. I expect he will be ready sooner than most people think.</div></div>
Maybe they don’t need a goalie for 8 years but they do need a veteran goalie for the next 2 or 3. Freddy Anderson come on down. The good thing about Freddy is that he’s injured so often Levi will get most of the games. He’s also prone to long stretches of bad play which should allow Levi to gain confidence and feel like the true number 1.

Top 10 center? Yea no. Lindholm is a very solid 2-way center, but he's not top 10.
As for that trade, if you think one of Savoie or Peterka are B level prospects, well you are very very wrong. Lindholm is a rental who will be a UFA at the end of the season and will be expecting a substantial raise. I'd say you will probably be looking at something closer to the Horvat return which was a mid first, a decent prospect and a middle 6 roster player. Buffalo won't be shipping out assets for rentals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>With the current salary cap situation, any defenseman making $6 million is making number one pairing money. If the cap should go up enough you can make the case that $6.5 million is a high end second pairing defender. But at the current rate I would almost argue any defender making over $5 million is making number one pairing money.</div></div>
That’s fair. But you’re paying on the front end as that number will gradually increase with the cap looking to be increasing.
Parayko is paid to be a first pairing guy. He’s asked to be a bonafide number 1 who plays heavy shutdown with a lesser partner (the Pietrangelo treatment). He’s not prime Pietrangelo. He has a few holes in his game that don’t allow him to be Pietrangelo. Mainly his weakness of his first pass. But he’s is extremely elite at certain aspects as well.
The issue the Blues have on the defensive contracts is they have a group of guys they’re paying that don’t fit roles they need to to play to their strengths. Parayko is a bit of an outlier as he’s just been getting hammered to shelter everyone else.
Krug, Parayko, Faulk, Lindholm and Fowler occupy the 29th-34th highest paid defenseman on an annual basis. So in an essence yes they are being paid to be number ones. But they’re paid to be the worst number ones in the NHL.
All 3 on their own aren’t really bad contracts. Krugs isn’t great, but he’s being paid to generate offense and he’s done so over his career at a higher clip than Morgan Reilly for one who isn’t really looked at in as bad of a light.

Yes Guentzel is a scoring machine no doubt about it, he is also Crosby's wing man over 80% of the time.
Kulich is nearly 10 years younger than Jake and just set a record for the most AHL goals in one season by a teenager.
He has a goal in 4 straight Calder cup games and the Amerks have won every game in which he dressed.
I am sure some one will give up a first and an "A" prospect for him but it will not be the Sabres as <strong>Juri appears to have a 30 goal/year NHL future</strong> as well.
