Marner is not the answer to any of Buffalo’s problems, and neither is helping Toronto by giving them better, younger players in exchange for that stupid cap hit. He also has no reason to sign a long-term deal for less money, it’s not like he’s from here.

In the unlikely event we even present an offer sheet Colorado probably matches. On the bright side if they didn’t maybe that first rounder is late anyway so it’s not much of a loss.

I didn't overpay for Borgen. He's expiring and they might look to move him, and Krebs is a young center Buffalo doesn't really need. A lot of young center talent in the system and you can move Krebs for an area of need.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FlameFlameFruit</b></div><div>Or it just shows you need to live up to your contract. Clifton sucks.</div></div>
Trading away Lyubushkin in the final year of his two-year deal when it was clear he was the extra defender that wasn’t going to play, Is totally different than giving away Clifton in year two of his three year deal. He started off this year pretty badly, I think there’s no one disputing that. But he did get better as the year went on.
Like I said before everyone likes Borgen, including Seattle, so they probably want to hang onto him. But if they are chasing their tails by the trade deadline, he is definitely going to be someone teams will be calling about. That’s when you’d see a return like this for him. Krebs hasn’t really been given the opportunity to play 3rd line center, I think they plan on letting him play with someone who can actually skate before deciding to cut bait. Using Kulich as the fourth line center would just be a waste, I don’t know if they see him as a center but he’s definitely going to get more ice time than the grinders.
Resigning Robinson would be pretty pointless, he was about as effective as Rousek was whenever you saw him out there. That’s a younger guy I would be willing to trade away. Upgrading the bottom six with guys who are not afraid to go to the net and stay there is what Buffalo needs. I think on that we are agreed.

Buying out Clifton all but ensures that nobody will sign with you in free agency anymore. Giving away Jokiharju is plain stupid, if you’re going to trade him get something of value. We all like Will Borgen. But if you want him, instead of overpaying, how about you just wait a year and get him back for free?

Lindys role players

Every NHL team should be looking to hire you because you clearly know more than everyone else since ur saying a 40 point guy will be lucky to break 30 lol.</div></div>
I’m expecting him to be playing with reduced ice time in this scenario. At least compared to whatever he was getting in Philly, As he probably rotates between third and fourth line duties. Buffalo doesn’t need to add a significant point scorer To the top six like some people think, they just need to get some kind of production out of the bottom six and that would make a pretty big difference. Is Laughton better than most of what they already have in those positions? Yes, but he’d never be worth a top prospect or a first round pick, and $3 million is a lot to pay for a 3rd or fourth line player. That’s what Greenway is already getting.

You’re going to have a hard time kidnapping several thousand people. And frankly, we’re adults, it’s abduction now. It should be a cold day in hell before the Sabres trade away their best prospect for an overpaid third line Center who might score 30 points next year and a fourth line goon. But somehow that’s not enough, you want a fourth round pick too. 😆

New Ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Yeah okay that makes sense but there’s a difference between a 3rd liner and a player u would put on ur 3rd line lol. Stacked teams like Vegas and Florida have guys on the 3rd line that would be in a top 6 role on plenty of other teams. They aren’t 3rd liners they just happen to be on a deep team. Farabee is a 2nd liner for sure. He’s only going to get better. There’s also no guarantee Quinn hits 30 or stays healthy whereas if Farabee continues to grow and hits 60-65 points next season he would cost way more. It’s a gamble for sure and I think Philly is ready to gamble his current value for what it could be but maybe other teams aren’t ready to gamble on it yet.</div></div>
Ferabee’s current contract could prove to be more valuable with time as the cap rises if he puts up 30 goals and can stay there. But it looks like the Sabres are spending more money on their blue line than they will on the forward group. With Peterka and Quinn both needing new contracts after next season adding another $5 million player is probably a luxury they can’t afford. The cheap contracts that Ostlund, Kulich, and Savoie bring to the table will likely be needed to fill out the roster in the next couple years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Would hardly call a 24 year old 50 point player just a 3rd liner lol. Torts may play him there sometimes but Torts is Torts and I think every forward we had played on every single line this year lol. I’m pretty sure Tk played a game on the 4th line but that doesn’t make him a 4th liner.
Quite frankly it would be a win for Buffalo if half of ur prospects hits Farabee’s level. Most prospects on every team won’t even get that far.</div></div>
Well, I see it this way. Peterka has already shown he could score 30 goals next year. Quinn could do the same if he is healthy. Skinner needs to be a top six forward to be effective, and contrary to the popular opinions of this website, he’s not getting traded or bought out. You’re not going to take Alex Tuch off the unit with Thompson, and Dylan Cozens is a second line Center. By default if you were to acquire Ferabee, the best you could do is put him on the third line with Benson. Maybe adding a player with 20 goal capability makes Peyton Krebs a better Center too? But you’re paying premium assets for a guy you’re putting on the 3rd line. I think Buffalo looks to free agency to fill that need unless there is a player they absolutely have to trade for.

Ferabee is a nice player, but I don’t think he’s worth that. At the very least Kulich would not be the guy on the board, especially not if you’re getting a first round pick. He doesn’t strike me as a power forward type and that’s what Buffalo really needs if they’re going to add a top six forward. Come to think of it adding another top six forward doesn’t make much sense because they don’t have room for one. Peterka, Quinn, Skinner, and Tuch are their top 6 wingers, none of them should be getting bumped. I doubt they’re paying a premium for a 3rd liner. They can probably find someone they like in free agency to play with Benson without losing assets.

Laughton is an overpaid 3rd line center. As a near cap dump, you’d be lucky to get a third rounder for him. As the others have said he’s not the guy Buffalo would ask about. But there’s a whole lot of wishful thinking in these other trades too.

Philly Reset
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Happy to explain it to you.
Flyers were desperate to get a back up goalie because they killed Ersson riding him basically every game for 3 months and he burnt out. Cal Petersen can’t save a beachball coming at him and Sandstrom stops every hard shot he sees and lets in every easy goal he sees. Both of our options sucked. Fedotov wanted to make it worth his while coming to the US since he was make I believe about $1M in equivalent over in Russia. So part of the agreement in getting him over here now was the new contract.
So now Fedotov comes over has brand new equipment that is broken in at all, has two practices, and the Flyers are reeling.
First game he plays he comes in and has an amazing game after Ersson gets pulled.
Second and third game he looked meh at best but the team in front of him complete quit and didn’t help him in anyway.
Also the contract is only for 2 years and Michkov doesn’t come over for 2 years. Or rebuild won’t even begin to be over until Michkov comes over so a contract in a rebuild that will be over with before anything matters isn’t a big deal at all.
Either he sucks and his contract is gone when the flyers want to compete or they found a gem who just had a rough start after the flyers threw him into terrible circumstances.</div></div>
I understand your hands are probably tied, but the guy did get arrested because he tried to come over two years ago. I guess it’s a quid pro quo sort of thing. It’s kind of mind blowing how Cal Peterson fell off a cliff, maybe the Sabres dodged a bullet with him after all. I guess Carter Hart’s career is basically over? For the record I like Ersson, but I guess you’re going to run a 1A and 1B tandem until one of them earns the reins.

Yeah, this whole thing is kind of insane. But I’m beginning to question what Danny Briere is planning when he’s handing a $3 million contract to a goaltender with a save percentage in the low .800s and an over four goals against average.

I was very surprised when the kings even made the deal for Dubois. If there were a team that didn’t need another center, it would be them. Especially since they committed more time to Kopitar.
