Little moves
Cant believe Im saying this.. But no chance this team healthy scratches Myers right now, hes been a beast the last 6 games! I think if we can free up a bit of space with the Garland trade and sign Bear we are set on D.
Id be able to swallow the Roslovic trade purely for the freedom it gives the group next offseason even though I think its a downgrade.

(PIT/VAN) - Friedman, Glover for Plasek, Rathbone
Fair deal. Friedman fits better on this Canucks roster than Rathbone so far. Different types of players and sure Rathbone has more offensive upside but that has yet to translate at the NHL level. Fell to #7 on LD depth for the Canucks.

Whats your best guess on games split by goalies this year? 60-20? 50-30? Debating dropping Skinner (Edm) for Samsonov.

(TOR/VAN) - Lafferty for 2024 5th (VAN)
Fair trade at a glance.. But digging more into Lafferty I feel like the Canucks are getting the most upside in the trade. Leafs are downgrading in quality to shed cap and do not improve. Canucks upgrade their bottom 6, add depth and fill a need for a RH shot that can play Center, take faceoffs and PK.

(VAN/MTL) - Pearson, 2025 3rd (VAN) for DeSmith
This is a very fair trade.
Both teams trade from a position of strength. Canucks had too many wingers, Habs had too many goalies.
Why Montreal wins, the 3rd round pick. May be able to flip Pearson IF he plays well.
Why the Canucks win: The cap flexibility, improved depth in 2, probably 3, positions.
1. Improves the Canucks goalie Depth. Desmith is easily Canucks #2 and gives them a great AHL tandem in Silovs - Martin. Theyre now in a position where they may be able to overcome an injury to Demko, which they could not last year.
2. It also allows the Canucks to improve their Center depth fitting Pius Suter's cap hit on the books.
3. This trade gives them the option to resign Ethan Bear. I think we will see this signing happen in the near future which improves their blueline depth.

Thread:
(VAN/CHI) - Dickinson and 2024 2nd for Stillman
This trade is more fair than a win for either team, will depend on who the 2nd turns out to be. The worst part has nothing to do with this trade but in paying a 3rd to aquire Dickinson and then moving a second out with him. But that doesnt really have anything to do with this specific trade. Nor does it have anything to do with the new management group. They've also had new addition Nils Aman pass Dickinson on the depth chart during camp.
Van deals a redundant forward from a position of depth to fill a position of need, and clears cap space this year and next. Cap space this year gives them flexibility with all the injuries they have, or to further improve the team. And gives them cap space to resign important players for next year.
Chicago takes on a cap dump and gets a second two years from now, a player that likely doesnt help them for 4-5 seasons.

Yeah no chance Petey or Miller are run on LW. They want three scoring lines they can roll against anyone.
Dickinson and Joshua will also be on the roster over Dowling and Karlsson.

There is one component to this that makes zero sense, and no one has even blinked at it.
Why would Arizona want Kerfoot in that deal? I dont think it interests them in the slightest. 1 year and done, makes them better when I dont think they want to be better. Youre going to be paying a 2nd plus with kerfoot for them to take him on plus retention.

Canucks Line Combos Read Description
Love our forward additions this year, gives the coaches so many options. The players signed fill every hole we had in the forward group on paper. This team still needs a top 4 RH defenseman though, and I wouldnt be suprised to see them acquire one sometime soon. Hopefully they dont feel the need to overpay for one but that may be the reality at this point.
Id try to keep Dickinson on the Roster and sign De haan for 1.3M. If we sign De haan at 1.5M it locks the team into having to send one of Poolman, Dermott or Dickinson to the AHL.

Realistic Pettersson deal
I think you're a bit low for all three Centers and Severson.
Horvat cant get less than 6.5.. Can he?
Miller and Petey likely both 8.5.
Severson probly starts with a 6.

Just my two cents.

Sounds like Poolman will be healthy
Not sure if anyone remembers the start of last camp, they had Poolman slated to play with OEL. I thought they looked solid before all the vaccine BS with Hamonic shook things up.
Id also prefer that look to start this camp and roll something more balanced like:
Hughes - Schenn
OEL - Poolman
Dermott/ Rathbone - Myers
OEL - Poolman may be a superior shut down pairing vs having Myers there. I also did not think Poolman was a great fit with Hughes in the minutes they played together. The puck seemed to die on his stick.

Not true. Team is waiting on 2 things.
1. They want JT to come down a bit on his aav.
2. They're waiting for more info on where the cap limit is going in the coming years.

Not bad except Ive got JT at Center and Dickinson on the 4th. Ive heard OEL has been practicing on the right side this offseason, could be theyre looking at pairing him with Hughes. He has played the right side before.
Garland - Miller - Boeser - Scoring
Pearson - Hovat - Mikheyev - Matchup
Kuzmenko - Petey - Podkolzin - Scoring
Hoglander - Dickinson - Lazar - Solid 4th
Joshua
Hughes - Schenn
OEL - Myers
Rathbone - Poolman
Dermott - Burroughs
