Nylander to NSH
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>It's not the worse one I have seen- saw an Ottawa one that was White and Murray lol. Seems like a decent enough return, I just think it does not match the Leafs and their window. Fabbro I really like, but I don't know what impact he has on the Leafs right now, especially since they have their own young dman. I don't think Leafs really need to add on defense (unless they move Muzzin), but if they feel compelled, then I would want someone who could play top competition with Muzzin or Brodie. Maybe Fabbro gets there, but he's not there now. And Tolvanen I was like when I watch him, but it still seems to be missing for him. And I really don't think he comes close to what Nylander is as a player.</div></div>
Completely agree and that's why it wouldn't make sense for TML. And you're right about Fabbro and Tolvanen, Fabbro has progressed but no one has a read on his future, while Tolvanen will show flashes but never really live up to what we want him to be. Both still young but who knows... the more I think about it, I really do believe Toronto is knocking on the door of a playoff run. And to your first point that Sens fan needs some help haha

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>Yeah okay, that’s exactly what the Leafs need. Another flashy top 6 scorer. That has served them well the past few years, don’t u think? Leafs management and obviously Leafs fans as I know see, are always looking in the wrong places. Ur team needs more depth; ur already top heavy. Your RHD core stinks also. U had Lybushkin playing with Reilly. U think ur going anywhere with that? And the difference between Severson and Holl is MASSIVE</div></div>
yes, it is exactly what the leafs need. Anyone who has paid attention to the leafs at all for the past 3 years knows that they have been a good defensive team that was let down by scoring in the playoffs.
your trade is bad, and doesnt help the leafs at all.
And no, the difference between severson and Holl isnt MASSIVE. but the value between Nylander alone and that entire package sure is

TOR Trade and Draft Shock
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>I’ve literally seen a million Leafs fans propose a trade with the exact same base. And I wouldn’t say ur right side defense is exactly great. Blackwood is also a big piece in this as he can replace Campbell because at this point, it’s unlikely he stays. U also get pick #37 which is essentially no different than a late 1st. Clearing Holl’s cap also clears up another 2m in cap</div></div>
You've seen Leafs fans propose Nylander for a goalie who just put up a .892, an expiring contract and a second rounder? Lol...... maybe a few years ago but not anymore. Nylander isn't going anywhere. That's a certainty. Justin Holl is fine at 2M. Rather him than Severson considering the cost of acquisition.
I also think you are significantly underrating Justin Holl. He is not a cap dump. Some team will pay to get him. I guarantee you that. Like your idea of taking Nemec at 2 though

The Ducks are a rebuilding team. Why would they want a 26 yo UFA in 2 years, a 27 yo UFA in 1 year and a 30 yo bottom pair turd?
I get that Nylander is immensely talented but this trade is a square peg looking at a round hole. It just doesn't fit.

Agreed.
IF Kerfoot is moving out- it's to shed salary to spend on a G, or to split money between 2 roster spots. Not re-spend on 1 player of equal or lesser value.

Trading Kerfoot for nothing, to give the money to Domi seems backwards to me. Perhaps Domi could be a better fit on the 2nd line- but I don't think he brings more value.
If they're going to have an average middle 6 LW for 3.5million, it's going to be Kerfoot, IMO.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>You think the Islanders trade Mayfield? Lou has said he wants to keep Varly since he is close to Sorokin, and I would imagine Lou offers Mayfield a extension this offseason in the $2.5-$2.8 range for 5 or 6 years (similar to the Czizkas deal) where the cap hit is lower but Mayfield gets extra years.
If neither player is extended and Isles are out of the playoffs Lou probably sells Mayfield, but if the Isles are in playoffs at the deadline he would keep both players and let them walk in free agency.

If the Isles have legit aspirations to push for a Cup, which I believe that they do, they'll keep Mayfield. Could they move him this summer? Possibly I guess, but it would be in a package for a legit top-6F IMO. He doesn't need to play top-4 minutes with the Isles because they roll their pairs pretty evenly. Scotty definitely isn't more talented than Pulock or Dobson, but that's not a bad thing. He gets plenty of PK minutes and is on a dirt cheap contract. If all went to hell I could see them trading Mayfield at the deadline for a 1st (similar to Savard/Chiarot) but if they're in contention, Mayfield will be our own rental. I'm, not sure what his next deal looks like, but $3m ish per year is probably the floor.
I think I would trade Varly for that exact reason. But Lamoriello basically said after the deadline that goalie is an area he feels like he can't improve over what he has and it doesn't make sense to create a hole just to try and fill another. Varly is best friends with Sorokin and the Isles currently don't have any other Russian speaking players on the roster. And of course if Sorokin got hurt you would be very thankful to have Varly in 1B position. If the Isles think they have a shot at a Forsberg or Gaudreau in UFA, everything I just said about Varly should go out the window.

If Cat gets traded scortched earth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>I'm saying Kane is a huge upgrade at RW for the Rangers and he's a game changer there is no question about it; he could easily push the Rangers past Tampa. Then plug in Panarin and he have obvious chemistry on the ice, those two together with Strome in the middle would be a deadly line, almost impossible to stop. Colorado would have a really hard time stopping that line.
KK is not even close to Kane right now and he's developing slowly, has been underwhelming considering what the expectations were when he was drafted and where he drafted at. For a team competing, every team in their right mind would take Kane over KK in a cup run this year and next year because a real chance at the cup doesn't come very often...you take that chance with everything you've got versus worrying about the team in 5 years. Look at the moves TBL have made to maximize the window, Hawks did the same thing which is why Panarin was let go as well as Tuevo Terenvainen</div></div>
Do you understand that trading for Kane means a 1 year rental? Do you get that basic concept? It has nothing to do with Kane's skill, and everything to do with HOW LONG he will be on the team. Not giving up a 21 year old with Kakko's potential for ANY player for a 1 year rental. If you don't understand that then there isn't anything else to say.

He's a big forward whose game probably means more to the Leafs because he offers something a ton of their players/prospects don't. He's also probably relatively close to coming up. That means cheap cap hit. Most of all he's size and skill. Those prospects are always worth more to every team that has them. But I agree that the most you can hope for is top6 forward.</div></div>
For sure. I definitely get all of the appeal of Knies. I think I might have been the first CHI fan to ask for him in trade earlier this year after some research into TOR's pipeline. But I still think the level of snap back about him is unwarranted.

Cat definitely worth Knies. But I don't think teams should trade A prospects unless it fits. The issue with Cat is his contract is up. If this was 2 yrs ago, I think it starts with knies and a 1st. Now the leafs have to pay him. I don't know his qualifying, but I imagine it's high. It's probably $9million per to lock him in. Which is fine, but Leafs have Matthews UFA coming up. This also means you have to trade Nylander. For the leafs to give up Knies they have to be better this year and next. That's the window. If it costs you Nylander you are only a bit better.</div></div>
See. that makes sense. But some people talk about Knies as if he is already better than half the players in the NHL. And it's like... Ok hold on. there is a little something called nuance. hahah
