Nothing entices a player to make a jump to the NHL like a freshly won National Championship, so here's hoping Minnesota wins both their games next week.

TDL 21
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>User123409871234</b></div><div>I dont think any team would trade for him without knowing that he will sign. He wants to burn his first year this year, and needs to sign by tomorrow to do it, so more likely than not will be dealt today. That being said, his agent is reportedly supposed to come with a list of 5+ teams that he will sign with otherwise the wild won't trade him and he will have to wait another year to burn the first year of his deal.</div></div>
He doesn't actually need to sign by tomorrow. He needs to be on a team's reserve list by tomorrow to be eligible to play in the playoffs. He can sign later this year and have it count to burn a year this year.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drmantalban</b></div><div>I don’t think he actually has to be moved by TDL. I think he can still be dealt and sign after, but it just means he isn’t eligible for playoffs. Which, if it’s somewhere like Montreal, isn’t happening anyway.</div></div>
That's my understanding. I'm drawing a blank on the specific example, but I swear I've seen non-playoff teams trade prospects after the TDL before. It's just pretty rare.

Keeping Fiala
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NathanJoseph</b></div><div>Go read Michael Russo piece from yesterday. This fo doesn't want to keep fiala, and they value dumba over him. Also Arizona isn't a team a player like dumba would waive too. Russo said in his article wild offered sturm a long term contract before dealing him when he said no. That wild are valuing players like stirm over fiala is telling</div></div>
They are not nessesarily valuing players over Fiala, they probably view that they cannot keep Fiala. Plus that does not mean that the Wild are valuing players over Fiala, it means that they likely want to resign them to see what cap hit they have left to deal with Fiala.

I'd be pretty disappointed if we gave up a first for Zacha, I just think at this point he is what he is: fine middle 6 player. 2nd and a small add sounds about right, but even then I wouldn't be too interested personally. We do need help up the middle, but our problem is we have too many middle/bottom 6 centers and no top 6 centers so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to acquire another middle 6 center.
I think a 1 for 1 swap for another player that could use a change in scenery makes sense. Tippett, Kostin, Mittelstadt, etc. Similar to the Glass for Patrick trade this past offseason

To be fair, in this imaginary world where the Wild tear down and trade Kap, Zucc actually may waive for BUF to continue playing with his pal.
Not saying I agree with anything listed here, but claiming Zucc won’t waive is a little flimsy in the context of everything else happening here.

As I said, Rangers can't afford to do it and if they move Lafreniere they should address their need for a center. Plus, I really don't like how Lafreniere was thrown into the NHL. I realize the Rangers couldn't have sent him to the AHL if they wanted to due to the dumb CHL-AHL agreement, but I think that significantly hurt his development and they should have tried to get him to play in Europe for a year like Matthews did. But he's still really young and obviously very talented, but IMO there's a real risk he turns into another Yakupov.
I just don't really like the deal for either team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>User123409871234</b></div><div>So essentially get nothing for him, versus maybe a second and a prospect for fiala as the wild are over a barrel there too</div></div>
Fiala can be a long term option for teams because he's an RFA. They sign him for long term and that deal ends when he is the same age as Zucc is now. Age/contract term matters more than money when it comes to a trade. Zucc will be a rental+1 this summer and he's not young.
I still go with trade Talbot and use his savings to pay Fiala. Then look to move Zucc after next season if needed. It gives the prospects another year of development and maybe Rossi, Beckman, or whoever is ready to step into a big role.

How to keep Fiala
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>User123409871234</b></div><div>It's tough, but makes more sense to keep the 26Y/O scorer than it does the 34 Y/O playmaker IMO</div></div>
It all depends on the money. Age isn't a big factor here. MN is playing with a $67-$69m useable cap for the next 3 years. They basically need to put together a competitive cap floor team.
Players/agents know their value. Fiala has been underpaid the last 3 years. It's time for him to chase a big payday. MN just isn't the team that can give out another big payday.
Zucc is unmovable until July 1st. Other teams will sign UFAs instead of trading for a player as that point in the offseason. Zucc also has 0 incentive to waive him NMC before July 1st to help facilitate a draft day trade.

It doesn't matter if you trade Fiala or Zucc. The FWD group goes back to what it has been before Boldy was called up: 1 scoring line, 1 def line, 1 4th line, and 1 guy trying to make a line of junk work.

If they resign Fiala, they would then have to choose between Boldy and Dumba it appears the year after (I dont think thats even a decision.)</div></div>
Make the Playoff run and let him walk, or find some cap by trading Zucc. If you trade him at the TDL (or before the season) you're just going to be making another trade to fill the hole he leaves in the lineup. Maybe Addison is ready to take over the 2nd pair RD for the next year by then.
Dumba's play has been good, but nothing spectacular the last few years. Maybe he takes a similar contract to what he has now and stays. I just don't see him getting a Spurgeon $7.5m x 7 type of deal anywhere. This flat cap is killing the UFA market since the kids are getting paid instead of them all getting cheaper bridge deals.

These are just my observations, not fact.</div></div>
He doesn't have to do it all himself anymore. He was just as creative before it just led to nothing because the puck died on stick of his linemates.
I think not hitting the post with seemingly every shot and putting the puck in the back of the net eased a lot of the frustration.
I don't think he's ever had a confidence problem. He gives off the vibe of a guy who knows his s*** don't stink. The random temper tantrums he pulls a couple times a year need to stop though.
The winning board battles has been a slow build thing. He gotten better at it each year. Having Boldy does help because again he doesn't have to do it all himself.

Greenway isn't having a off-year. He is a part of the best shutdown line in hockey. Greenway-JEEK-Foligno has yet to surrender a 5v5-goal this year and Greenway has been a huge part of that. Sure, his offense is not like it was last year but he is not an offensive forward.
Also, he was just signed for 3x3. I don't think we want to trade him.
