Have to re-sign Hill
I feel like the success that Hill- a guy who was basically given away to the Knights by arguably their biggest rival- just had is a pretty good argument for NOT spending a bunch of money to keep him around. Why pay to keep Hill when the next Hill could be had for a 5th round pick? Hill definitely got hot at the right time but does anyone actually believe that he's suddenly a starting goalie that's going to give you 4 million dollar goaltending?
With Cassidy as coach and the crop of defenders they have, Vegas can probably insulate any number of lower end goalies enough to get good results. If a legitimate starting goaltender becomes available that's one thing but is that really Hill?

Golden Knights TDL to have Stone playing
I don’t think LTIR works that way. It doesn’t create cap space, trading Buffalo Smith would suffice without the need to take any new salary

Wrong, its in the CBA, its cap circumvention. They can not reacquire the player with any retained salary within 1 calendar year. Its not just if they already retained.
if you dont believe me google it, the CBA clause comes right up

Stone is going on LTIR, theyre no longer cash strapped and have no reason to trade anyone.

Kings For Real

It worked for the kings so well. I tried to justify it as part of vegas' escape from the cap situation but it's probably the biggest longshot deal made here.

Hard to see how Dadonov gets moved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Woolkins</b></div><div>Say a non-contender acquires him for basically nothing now, what is he likely worth next trade deadline with retention?</div></div>
So half-season at $2.5m AAV for rental winger around 0.45 pts per game? Maybe 4th or 5th rounder.

Simple Fix
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Look, I think he's sent to the other conference myself. While there are teams there with cap, or could make cap, the truth is, <strong>everyone knows VGK is stuck.</strong>
Of all the teams in the East right now that are playoff bound, aka the ones who would make the trade for a rental player, the only one with cap is NY.
Everyone else has to clear cap. That isn't exactly a good starting point for VGK. If everyone has to clear cap to take him, they aren't going to pay for him.
You look at NY and they are filled with wingers. If he was a center that would be something else.
I think you are over estimating the return.</div></div>
The bolded is flawed thinking. Yes, everyone knows this, but their actions 100% will not follow it. Its like <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner's_dilemma" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">prisoner's dilemma</a>. Game theory.
And you could wash his cap hit through Arizona or another bottom feeder. Teams will make space.

Easily. Stephenson has been the steal of the decade. Moving him out who’s making under 3 million for the next 3 years?! Not happening
I’m going to say a lot of you guys are going to be disappointed when the moves dont go like all of you are thinking.

Cap relief for Vegas Eichel and a C for Wild
I can't see VEG trading a great contract like Stephenson to offload Dadonov. I think they'd rather just pay ARI a higher pick to unload him straight off. Not saying the offer for Stephenson isn't decent, just don't think he's a guy who's on the block.

I like Theodore but Detroit isn't in a position to gut their team for 1 player. I'll take Martinez for a 2nd/3rd round pick when RFA Hague needs to be re-signed.

Not when we’re cap crunched and you know you have two quality defensemen locked up under 3 mill, you’re not gonna trade them

Competitively under the cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Woolkins</b></div><div>Yeah, Brossoit does nothing really for Buffalo. The question is is Coghlan and Carrier enough to get them to take his salary off Vegas’ cap hit this and next year. Or Coghlan and Nolan Patrick?</div></div> So Buffalo gives up an injured GK and pure cap dump for:
Coghlan, RHD
Carrier, hard hitting LW
and Brossoit over paid GK
Buffalo needs RHD, more grit and obviously more GK.
What myopic Buffalo fan would say no to this? I would make this trade as Buffalo will not be exceeding the cap for several years.
I think Buffalo still needs Boychuk to reach to cap floor, so you could take him out of the trade.

Still not enuf for Drai and MCD but I have to appreciate what you are going for here. Also, I don't think you can retain salary on players making league min.
