Adding SC Winners

Created by: ides
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 10, 2022
Published: Feb. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Montreal needs cap space and they get a current 2nd rounder for a young cost controlled C/Winger that helps with their coming restart. NYR get a LD cost controlled for 3 years and a future #2.
Vegas in need of cap, while Stepensons isn't major every little bit counts for their UFAs. This in addition to them getting a #1 and Kravtsov who probably cant reconcile with Drury. Rangers get another SC winner who might be getting to his ceiling.

No shot Vegas trades Stephenson and if they did, it’s for way more than that. If I’m Vegas I want Schneider and a 1st.

Why are the cap strapped knights trading one of their best value contracts?

Stone is going on LTIR, theyre no longer cash strapped and have no reason to trade anyone.

Montreal doesn't NEED capspace, they WANT to shred salary. A big difference you dont grasp.

Once Petry leaves, big Ed will be the no 1 Dman. Your offer should be mindblowing.

Um. Couple things: Petry leaving isn’t that easy. Also, “big ed,” might be the best d man on the habs, but that doesn’t mean hes a number 1. He’s nothing special, and no one is giving anything of major importance for him.

stephenson is a 3rd or 4th liner on most teams. he's just found a spot in vegas and is playing well. he's worth more to the knights than what teams would get by acquiring him

Disagree here. It was thought that he was a product of playing between Stone and Pacioretty, but this year he was a point per game player and carried his lines while they’ve missed many games.

Their offer should be stronger than above, but ‘mindblowing’ might be an excessive benchmark to hit.

i never said he's doing well because of those 2 smile. i said hes found a good spot and is doing well. paul byron found a spot when he came to mtl and scored 20 plus. that doesn't mean hes a consistent 20 goal scorer

Montreal won't be interested in trading Edmundson, Chiarot is the one that is available.

And if you can afford Edmundson at $3.5M there shouldn't be any reason you couldn't extend Chiarot at that value.

No reason for MTL to trade him away. It's not like UFA's will rush in to come play in Canada....

Its not serious to have a defence top 3 of Savard-Romanov-???

Well, what’s the goal here?
Is the goal to make the playoffs? If that’s the case, savard-Romanov-literally anyone is bad. Point being, edmunson isn’t some difference maker. He’s an okay middle pair d man. A true contender probably wants him or the bottom pair, and probably doesn’t want the term.

What’s his value in Montreal? That team isn’t winning over the duration of his contract. Thats the reason to move him. The reason to move him is that he’s almost 29, and an awful lot of players start to decline as they inch closer to 30. The reason to keep him is that I honestly think players of his ilk are more valuable as rentals than with term. Thats the gamble.
