There's a picture of Pierre Dorion at his desk with a player signing his contract. Behind we clearly see Capfriendly opened on his screen.
+1 to the person who finds this picture

Do they use capfriendly?
From what I’ve heard ~100% of teams and agents do. It is the primary quick reference for contract or draft details.
Do they go to the forums? The armchair gm section? I’d guess so, to lesser degrees. If this site were about your work, wouldn’t you atleast visit it for entertainment purposes?
Do some of them have burners? Yes, probably. Human beings don’t stop being human beings when they become gms.
It would be much more interesting if a few posted here without disguise. Especially owners, the ones who’s passion sits hidden. The best ways to grow the game are engagement, whether that is sticks in the hands of kids or gms/engaged owners talking to people who like mock trades. It’s so odd to me a person could power through life and amass the wealth to own a sports team then hide behind a gm for all the decisions.

NHL GM’s use this website but they certainly don’t take ideas from us

Could a team win the Stanley Cup without making any trades ?
Will need to see if its done before but I believe a team can win the cup without making trades
BUT
This would take extremely good drafting, free agent signings, and developing along with a good chunk of lady luck

Ranking the 5 major networks that broadcast the nhl by their intro songs
Disclaimer: For SN I’m going to factor all of them
5. TNT: Just awful, don’t need to explain why
4. ESPN: This just doesn’t fit hockey, more like a football intro
3. NBC: The only American one I actually like
2. Sportsnet: Man the individual teams (EDM, CGY and VAN) really drag it down
1. TSN: The most iconic one, the og Hockey Night in Canada, still holds up really well

That shouldn't be a hot take either.
I'm sorry I didn't announce Colorado as the winner of the trade.
Better luck next time.</div></div>
This is such a bizarre interaction. You said “ If you think the Avs have hit the jackpot with a waivers clearance 7D, then that's just dandy.”
Nobody is saying that lmao.

Winnipeg Jets signed Connor Hellebuyck (7 Years / $8,500,000 AAV)
I'm real surprised Hellebyuck didn't wait until at least part way through the season to see how things were going before signing. Took a bit of an AAV discount based on what he said he was after. That said, it appears he wanted money over glory, or he knows something about Winnipeg that the rest of us don't.
But they NEED to get a component backup for him, now that's he's locked up into his late 30s, load management is going to become a reality.

I said the same thing on the Hellebuyck contract but, as a Jets fan, I’m on cloud 9! I understand people are gonna complain about the term but AAV is great and it’s extremely nice to see a talented player choose to extend in WPG! Awesome!

This is a good signing, even if he doesn't play in the NHL this year. That said, if he doesn't play in the NHL this year, then he will be looking for a trade before the end of the season.

We live in a world where a possession monster like Tatar has to scratch and claw his way into a 1 year deal but guys like Tyler Myers and Josh frickin Anderson makes 6m a year WITH TERM. So unfair.
That aside, this is such a massive W for the Avalanche it’s not even funny. A complete home run of a signing.
5v5 monster.
