Good deal. Helle is an amazing goalie! Glad the jets got him locked in.

surprising given how it was assumed he wanted to leave. someone would've offered him eight digits in ufa.

Goalies usually play at an Elite Level well into their 30's. This is a great deal IMO

Everyone wants to leave until you pay them then it's just fine.

Probs will get 2-3 maybe good years out of it then the falloff starts

Will be 31 when the deal starts

Honestly with all the young guys blow up and retool could have been amazing in WPG.

I'd definitely feel better giving this contract to Hellebuyck than Scheifele. I was team retool for the Jets, but when you have one of the most consistently good goalies in the league, it's really hard to justify moving off them, even if time isn't on his side.

Seemingly, he got all the 'candies/frostings' when Scheifele didn't ???

Similar to Scheif, the back end of this will be awful but keeping Helle was a must

As a Jets fan, I’m on cloud 9! I understand people are gonna complain about the term but AAV is amazing and it’s extremely nice to see a top player in this league choose to extend in WPG! Awesome!

Holy. Not expected. Guess that will end Hellebuyck to NJD mock trades

Maybe they were less convinced he'd want to stay around longer term

I'm real surprised Hellebyuck didn't wait until at least part way through the season to see how things were going before signing. Took a bit of an AAV discount based on what he said he was after. That said, it appears he wanted money over glory, or he knows something about Winnipeg that the rest of us don't.

But they NEED to get a component backup for him, now that's he's locked up into his late 30s, load management is going to become a reality.

Aav is lower than I expected but I can't remember the last time a goalie got big money for long term in their 30s it worked out great.

Think the Jets would be better off retooling. They could've sold Scheif and Helle to get some great young pieces in.

That isn't true league wide. May be a few exceptions

Yeah, it feels like WPG has hovered around the "good, not great" mark for awhile. This just feels like more wheel-spinning.

Maybe Villardi hits the next level in WPG. Or maybe they become the next PHI.

WPG is cursed to perpetual mediocrity for at least the next few years

The term feels like a lot, but it's definitely outweighed by the fact he wants to be here.
AAV is also under what was expected so that's nice.

Great deal for Jets!
