We live in a world where a possession monster like Tatar has to scratch and claw his way into a 1 year deal but guys like Tyler Myers and Josh frickin Anderson makes 6m a year WITH TERM. So unfair.

That aside, this is such a massive W for the Avalanche it’s not even funny. A complete home run of a signing.
5v5 monster.

Avs are gonna be a power house this season. Not the greatest center depth but they got lots of scoring. Plus when they make the playoffs they'll probably have their captain back to help them win the Cup

I was going to say this would be a bargain at twice the price, but in reality, it would be a bargain at three times the price.

I was assured many times that Tatar would never accept a contract like this. Good for Sakic to get him signed for so cheap.

Homeboys got 4 points in his last 30 playoff games.

Dudes on pace for 2 healthy scratches per playoff point.

Grab your soft drink of choice, on the house, and simmer down.

He really should’ve signed with Washington if he wants to win this year

Nice… But I have to ask, all that waiting on Tatar’s end just to get a 1.5 mill deal? Was that worth it?

What an uninformed take.
You don't have to put up points to be a 5v5 contributor, dude's outshooting and out-chancing his opposition in every playoff run participated going back to 2018.
Outscored his opposition in every playoff run apart from the Devils one also.

The Devils and the Habs scratching Tatar in their respective runs where nothing but poor management decisions.
Having Tatar on the ice instead of guys like Lazar, Byron and Wood would've given the Habs and the Devils better chances at winning then deciding to scratch him.

Why don't you go have a banana and take a nap and see if you can't sleep all that snark off champ.

edit: Tatar didn't outscore opposition at 5v5 in both Habs postseason runs, he broke even those two.

Worth what? Training camps haven't even started. He didn't miss anything and I'm sure he enjoyed his summer just as much as the next guy.

Does this mean Colorado isn't trading Byram and a first for Nylander? Lol.

But yeah, I hope Tatar can hold up for the playoffs this time. Nonetheless, at this price, tough to say it's a bad signing.

Yeah… But, it wasn’t a Kane situation when he said that he wasn’t signing a contract until he fully recovers… Tatar waited to get more which ma/May not have happened

I've been saying all along that he'd sign this with a perennial contender but not with like, Ottawa

What's the difference between signing on July 1st and September 12th? Nothing.

Byron was like twice better than Tatar
Tatar was garbage against PIT & PHI in 2019-2020 and was garbage again against TOR in 2020-2021

WOW, All I heard was "East coast team" when it came to rumors for Tatar so this came out of left field.

3rd line RW spot is now set with him alongside Wood-Colton it has a Jersey vibe (Either former Devils or local product).

That means training camp is going to be a really tough battle for the 4th line spots (which is fine by me) and when Kovalenko comes over from Russia.

If Tatar is a ghost come playoffs AND Landeskog is healthy (both hypotheticals I know) then it's a perfect match. If Tatar can contribute in a 3rd line role in playoffs then this is all just gravy.

It's also a hedge against Drouin not working out in the top 6.

And the Avs use up their cap space from Landeskog's LTIR which they needed to maximize before the season started to be able to accrue any amount until the deadline.
