Seattle Kraken signed Carson Rehkopf (3 Years / $950,000 AAV)
this was a really nice pick by SEA. He looks like he's going to outplay a few people picked in front of him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Roysboy72</b></div><div>You know, I’m almost a little happy Detroit passed on Hughes and got Zadina instead. A full-on offensive defenseman with limited to no defense that gets paid like Hedman feels like a great player to watch, but a headache overall. I hope he fixes his defense (it’s in the position, <em>defense</em>man), and if he does this deal should look great for Vancouver down the line. For now, though, I would hate to be Demko on a team whose best defensemen are Hughes, Ekman-Larsson, and Myers.</div></div>
lol. Yah I'm so happy we drafted Olli Juolevi instead of Matt Tkachuck. I'd hate to have pay Tkachuk. What a smart move by Benning taking McCann instead of Pastrnak as well.

This is an amazing bridge deal. Even if Pettersson gets $12 million or more after this deal, it will still be a great deal, because that means he's played well enough over the next three years that the Canucks won this deal hands down.

That's exactly what a bridge deal is - a short term move. 15M is obviously jumping the gun. This is close enough to Barzal's deal that we can all be pleased. Hopefully we can keep him long next time.

With the defensive market a lot of Canucks fans were legitimately trembling at what this could have been. Regardless of what type of RFA this is, we all knew he wasn't also going to take some ludicrously cheap deal. This is a good balance of current and long term team needs, keeps in mind his ceiling while also keeps in mind his struggles this year.
Benning disappointed us last offseason, but I am thoroughly pleased with this one... if all pans out, this could be the 2nd best offseason we've ever had.

Los Angeles Kings signed Cal Petersen (3 Years / $5,000,000 AAV)
This is very similar to the Demko deal so its weird to see everyone rate this as a bad signing while Demko was rated as a good signing.
At the time of signing Petersen has: 54GP, 0.916SV%, 2.79GAA, +8.3GSAx
At the time of signing Demko had: 62GP, 0.911SV%, 2.92GAA, -3GSAx (this is actually his current GSAx for his career, I couldnt find his GSAx for only the first 62 games)
Statistically Petersen has been the better goalie throughout their careers, although Demko did just come off of his best season while Petersen just came off of his worst

The cap isn't the biggest issue. A vet making under 2 mil isn't the end of the world. The issue is he's an actively bad defenseman
