<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensibleguy</b></div><div>Gregor is not an established NHL player. He has 58 NHL games, and this past season, he played 30, was a healthy scratch for 8, and wasn't on the roster for the other 18 games. That's not established. Sure he was 22, but who cares what his age is if he doesn't project to be better than what the Sens already have. If Gregor was a centre, that would be different, but they just don't need another winger. Amadio, Bishop, and Beaudin are all centres. Ottawa is flush with wingers, and they aren't spending a 2nd to get another one.

Look at it this way, the Sens lost Balcers because they didn't have room to play him. Abramov went back to Europe. Chlapik went back to Europe. Davidsson went back to Europe. They all saw the writing on the wall. Ottawa doesn't need to fill those four players spots, because they already have, through promotions.

Ottawa doesn't need Gregor, and it's a waste of a second to trade for him.

BTW, your three assets for one comment made me chuckle. I'll give you three fives for a twenty, you can't refuse getting three for one, lol.</div></div>

Ok, really quite comical.

Gregor is absolutely an NHL player, all the metrics and stats say that he is. When he has been in the lineup he has performed. Just because he is mismanaged doesn't mean that he isn't a full time NHL'er. The issue with Gregor is that he wasn't as good at faceoffs as other players (still decent) and the C position he would fill on the Sharks, the coaches didn't like him there for some odd reason. Ottawa doesn't have this problem, especially with Tierney leaving.

It's really really funny that you bring up Balcers because he's a perfect example of a team that didn't properly evaluate their player. They overvalued their own draft prospects and put the team in a bad position. It's why they completely cratered the last part of the season. The only plausible (however weak) explanation is that the Sens saw Balcers as a top 6 and didn't have room. Given he saw waivers I doubt this is the case.

It's really quite hilarious you used money as an analogy to draft picks. It really shows how little you understand how draft capital works and how GM's value players vs picks. It also demonstrates how little you understand about the applied value of picks and how often they are swapped to gain position. Honestly, for being a "sensibleguy", you're really quite absurd and I am not going to engage anymore.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>-100% chance Danault signs that nor doesn't take the same from MTL, the rest of the trades are unrealistic (and the Dreidger contract) except for the Kane trade which is a good thought.</div></div>

Reported but let me tell you why you're wrong.
1) Danault probably takes this amount due to a) Contract issues between him and the Habs b) Flat cap c) Taxes - the taxes in CA are less than in Mtl by about 5% (16% v 11%) (fed taxes are near the same). Also, Mtl plays more games in higher tax rate states than the Sharks. So this is about a 20% pay raise. There is the possibility that he gets picked up by another team with no state tax, but its unlikely as most of those teams are cap constrained.
2) Seattle needs a face of the franchise. They need to sell tickets and really there isnt a more likeable, sellable personality in the NHL that still has value and can be truly made available. Its equally as probable it will happen than it wont.
3) Gregor trade - the difference between probabilities of a second and third round pick making the NHL isnt all that different, add in a 5th round pick and a serviceable bottom 6 player. This is a no brainer.
4) Driedger might get slightly more than that, but sue me for being a bit optimistic. He tops out at $3M for a super desperate team, but there is enough goalie talent out there its driving down cost. He just doesnt have enough experience to warrant a higher contract (read: small sample size), with a less than stellar development trajectory, as well as his age means a prove it contract.
