<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>josi4norris</b></div><div>There’s no way Carolina does the original deal in this post, but don’t entertain this guy. His argument is that Saros isn’t good. He’s the main reason the Preds have been competing for the playoffs the past two or three years. Prior to this year, his worst season save % is .914. Saros is at .902 this year playing behind one of the worst defensive groups in the NHL. Carolina’s best goalie with more than 3 games played is at .905 playing behind one of the leagues best defensive groups. Carolina fans saying Saros is just another goalie need to recall what happened last year in the playoffs.</div></div>
It’s crazy that even Saros’ down year isn’t even that bad. It’s not his fault our second best defenseman is a geriatric Ryan McDonagh. Saros would have a .925 behind the Canes D core.
Yeah, the package above is too much. I’d still take a 1st+Nadeau

Novak's off the table. Foote can be yours for the 3rd. No thanks on Beauvilier.

Historical Draft Day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>josi4norris</b></div><div>Disagree. Fabbro was playing arguably the best hockey of his career at the end of last season. Moving up four spots (from 15 to 11) in a draft this deep isn’t worth next seasons potential #1 RD in my opinion.</div></div>
I would argue that the Preds should be targeting a future #1 RD. His defensive game is great, and I loved what he was able to do this season. However, that doesn’t stop me from thinking Carrier or Barrie are guys that could totally fill the 1RD role. I’d also prefer that Livingstone get a good amount of time in the lineup, and he wouldn’t be able to get that time with Fabbro still here. It doesn’t help that I think ASP would be a great option for the Preds in this draft, and he wouldn’t be there at 15. His offense is great, but he really is pretty solid all around - seems like the guy I’d want to target, and wouldn’t mind doing it at the price of Fabbro

Flip the channel off TSN once in a while and watch games that aren’t Toronto.
Three of those players were moved at the TDL. Forsberg, Johansen, Duchene, Josi, Carrier, all got injured. We had a top 6 of Glass, Evangelista, Sherwood, Tomasino…
Saros had, again, a 40+GSAA. Dude dragged our team through the season 💀
Sammy got carried and fumbled

Fading? He had 64 points last year. Nashville doesn’t have any need for Barrie. Matter fact none of these moves improve nashville

Johansen's overpaid by about $1.5M, but he's still a valuable contributor. A 1st+ to move him is crazy - he's not a Toews-esque cap dump. NSH declines with ease.

I agree with you. I would imagine an extension would likely have to be agreed upon before the deal is made.

Yeah I'm siding with you there, still don't really understand the McDonagh trade for that reason alone. Granted, no one forecasted Tkachuk being available. My other thought was throwing Granlund in the CGY deal and nixing an Ekholm trade all together. Just don't know how I feel about Duchene being a 1C.

Replacing forsbergs pioints
NSH declines. There are enough UFA forwards this summer that the Preds shouldn't have trouble signing a top 6 winger. The return VAN would want for a year of Miller isn't worth it for NSH.

NSH wouldn't trade Jeannot for a Hagel-like return. The best you could get from the Preds for this package is maybe Phil Myers.

Deadline prediction
I'd have medium interest in Zacha, if he came cheap enough. I'd still be wary though as any sort of raise on his current contract could be a problem, if he doesn't make a big leap right away with a new team. This is considerably more than I'd be comfortable giving up for him though, and I don't want what's left of Subban back.

I'm not psyched to trade him just to dump him. I get why his value wouldn't be high for most, but the Devils could still trade him with retention to a team very tight on the cap if those teams were stretched thin. I just don't see a fit between NJD and NSH. Getting a bunch of small pieces for the Devils now doesn't make sense when they don't need cheap depth.

3 Trades that Could but Wont
Anaheim, Nashville, and Seattle all reject, and it isn't close. I'm a Habs fan - proposals like this make all of us look bad, so quit it.
Comtois has a higher upside than Gallagher, is cheaper, young, and drafted by Anaheim. They could be interested in Gallagher, but nowhere near that price.
Weber is not retiring - he is owed millions. He isn't terminating his monthly payments. He has no value. So, two firsts and Myers for Chiarot and bad contract Armia? Hell no.
SEA could've had Price for free, and passed. why would they, a terrible team, give up a young center, their number 1 goalie AND a first round pick, for him at 9 million and under performing Mike Hoffman?
Put yourself in the shoes of other teams before you propose brutally lopsided deals like this. Cmon
