I'm not a fan of Nosek at $5M. Evolving-hockey.com has his contract projection at $2.6M for a 4 year term. I'm not sure I am a big fan of Nosek at all, but definitely not at 2C. If Couts and Nosek were the Center adds, Nosek plays behind Ek for sure.

And just so you don't misunderstand me... I don't want Rask as our 1C, 2C or 3C... but players get injured and having Rask biding his time on the 4th line/bench (if you can't trade him) is better (in my mind) than buying him out

2020. PLAYOFFS 15 2 7 9 1 16</div></div>
I also think so... his advanced stats are also impressive. Unlike some others, I wouldn't expect to see a bump in stats from playing with Kirill, because playing with Giroux gives a similar look to his offensive upside.

1. This AGM has 5.588M in cap space...
2. Rask is one of the rare cases where he utterly fails on the eye test, but his advanced stats are really not that bad at all... I just don't like to lose cap space if it can be avoided.
3. Question stands on if McCann can be a legit 2C option

Another trade proposal
How much did McCann play center? Thinking he played much more wing. How much concern is there in flipping him to center? We all know that saying a wing (Johansson) was going to be a center has backfired in the past.
And if that's your completed team, what's your rationale for the Rask buyout? There's room for him and to have a few callups for injury protection.

Taking a chance on high draft picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>We know. But he had his best seasons playing next to Kane, and Kaprizov is a similar player.
Moreover, he's a far better talent and option to play there than Viktor f*cking Rask. He would also be serving as a stop-gap until either Rossi is ready to take over as 1C or if Patrick can hit on his potential.
That center depth blows what we had this season outta the water.</div></div>
And if Strome and Patrick Struggle, I am sure Dean could just promote Rask back there… I know it’s not ideal, but it does give the risk a little backup plan
One concern with the lineup is that Billy has talked about wanting to add size/strength defensively and Addison and Menell both offer less grit than Dumba and Soucy

Wennberg and Konecny
<a href="/users/TanSor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@TanSor</a> Evolving-hockey.com has Wennberg 4 year contract projections at $4.5 if that helps. I recall 4-5 years ago thinking a Granlund for Wennberg swap would work in our favor, but Wennberg hasn't panned out the way I thought... But if we get to FA and it seems like that is what's available to us, I would consider it... but I'd prefer to go with a 2 year deal on Wennberg instead of 4... but I'm guess Wennberg wont want another super short deal.

Value check on SC
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krzyk0</b></div><div>The two seasons where he didn't reach 50 points was because he was stuck on power play two. That unit was so inept, that they would practically keep the first unit out the whole time. Almost all his points came at 5v5. Once he got moved up to pp1 in 19-20, it wasn't surprising he nearly became a ppg player and led the team in scoring. This year everyone on the team sucked so it wasn't just Konecny. I think Konecny will be a reliable 70-80 point guy in his prime.</div></div>
Thanks for the valuable insight!
We, the Wild faithful, know a thing or two about inept poweplay units.

I think it's worth the risk if we could do it. But I also agree with TanSor that Boldy and Rossi shouldn't be in the trade bait for anyone but Eichel.
BTW, the best RD after Addison is Mermis. Hunt will be allowed to walk, but you'll get Mermis for 750k so no change to your build</div></div>
I also don’t have an expansion pick in the build… so it’s not very complete anyway…
I will agreed to disagree on Eichel. There are 15 centers in the league that I would trade Rossi and/or Boldy for … and Couts is on that list for me, and for me Eichel is not.

In my mind I was thinking 61 in 82games not in 66, so 19-20 was much more productive than I was thinking.
But it sounds likely that I need to watch more because I am probably undervaluing him.

I wouldn't see him as a rental though. And BG wouldn't do that trade for a rental... He's always about better now and better down the line. I'd be trading for Couturier knowing that I would need to pay him in a year and I'm okay with that. Perhaps that's a naiive take to think that we could re-sign someone we traded for, but that would be the intent.

What's with all the Konecny love? Neither his Point stats nor his advanced stats have me excited to trade for him and his $5.5 cap hit... what am I missing on him that is appealing?
But I get the point about Couts being a risk... it's always a risk to trade for someone 1 year away from UFA.

It wouldn’t be wise to buy out Parise next year… you only gain $1.5M, 0.6M, 0.6M of cap space the last 3 years because his actual salary drops to 2M, 1M, 1M. This is the last year where our cap would benefit from the buyout … but only for the one year.

Tampa actually has a lot of leverage... but not in the traditional sense... their leverage is in the fact that other teams would get into a bidding war if Cirelli were to be available... I suspect you would have to add another piece to make that deal happen. And based on Tampa’s history, they are going to need an ELC guy like Rossi or Boldy to make them choose the Wild over other teams in the hunt.
It’s the same as Columbus with Foligno and PLD... they had very little leverage, but created some additional leverage by openly having multiple suitors.
If Eichel gets traded that will be the same type of scenario... but way more

Your position is so bad you have to be desperate to be cap compliant by next season. Teams will take advantage. Why pay when you can get it for free.</div></div>

<a href="/users/MNBassman" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@MNBassman</a> how do you see the trade breakdown? Cozens is an unproven commodity so I’d think Buf would have to add to get Fiala just as he’s breaking in to his potential ... and if BG is asking a 1st and a young player for Dumba alone, doesn’t seem to me like he’d use Fiala as a sweetener.

Plus our head of scouting apparently picked him so I'd imagine there would be some intrigue by our front office. I don't think he's the perfect player by any means but with that trade I was mainly looking for a youngish right shot C to move Greenway for and Gaudette fit the bill.</div></div>
Thanks! Appreciate the explanation. Rask isn’t that old, but he’s old enough to know that his upside is probably hit. And yes he is painfully slow ( Him I have watched). I like the idea of a RH center... but my focus hasn’t been on the 3C spot because of our obvious 1C problem.
I am so-so on Monahan. Definitely an upgrade, but I am hoping that BG can bring in something better... maybe I am unrealistic in my hope, but I am hopeful nonetheless.
