With a 83 million Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorsCousin</b></div><div>I would too, except I'd rather have Nuge, Benning, and Bouchard over the next couple years. Parayko's great but I'm saying we've got a couple guys that could fill that role in a couple years.
And not to mention, acquiring Parayko means we'd lose one of Nurse, Larsson, or Klefbom in the expansion draft. If we just wait for Bouchard and sign a two year stop gap, we could protect those 3 and Bouchard.</div></div>
Thank you someone accounting for the expansion draft.

thats fair, 4 by 4 then? I cant seem him wanting to sign only a 3 year deal though.

Thats incorrect it would only be a 2nd rounder for anything between $2,029,660 - $4,059,322

you also wouldn't need to pay kap that much for toronto not to be able to match, go with 4 mill for 4 years and only give up a 2nd rounder

Realistic Next Year
Do NOT use RNH as a 3C complete waste of his skill set. He is much better at a 2 LW next to drai and either sign a cheaper 3C through free agency and dont sign dzingle (considering it sounds like he wants to sign in the U.S. anyways) or put dzingle on the 2RW and find an internal 3C (marody, cave or gagner) marody is the most likely. I like the Kerfoot trade I'd like to hear an avs fan opinion on it though.

small deals with tor and nash
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorsCousin</b></div><div>Connor Brown alone isn't worth a 2nd rounder in my opinion. Think about Tyler Benson or Ryan McLeod. Would you trade either for Connor Brown?
Benning for Brown 1 for 1 is the deal that was going around and EDM didn't even take it. I think this is because they value 6D better than a 9F.
The only fair deal for Brown is for a 3rd rounder imo because we could easily find his type in FA without having to spend any assets.</div></div>
interesting point cause i probably wouldn't trade benson or mcleod for brown but I think that is largely to do with they were fringe first rounders, as well as the possibility of them being top 6 players, but i get what your saying cause that future 2nd rounder could be another benson. it seems though in todays market teams hold onto there prospects more than picks.

small deals with tor and nash
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JJstings315</b></div><div>I believe you are paying to much for the Nashville trade. I would take Bear out of the Equation and put a third or second in his place. Toronto trade is not bad for the Oilers. I don't think Toronto would do it though. Also, Marody shouldn't be up in the league yet or you will rush him as we did to Puljujärvi. I do agree with how you were targeting teams with Cap space issues next year. Teams with cap will take advantage of that. But the Oilers will have to get rid of those contracts before we do trading.</div></div>
very valid points, I definitely could replace marody with a vet on a 1 year contract of similar cap hit, I think toronto might give this a decent look maybe even with lowering the pick to a 3rd, cause they need every penny they can to try and resign marner, kapanen and johnsson. and they can replace brown with an elc. i think the oilers like the deal for the simple reason I think Connor would like to have an old buddy on the team, and if connor thinks it will produce than its worth looking into. since the oilers are at a surplus of right handed 6Ds (persson, bear, bouchard, and kinda jones since he plays both sides)

Trade Deadline and July 1st
I think the dzingle signing is an over pay but on the other hand you have to overpay anyone to come to Edmonton. You definitely will need to add a bit more to the Toronto trade probably replace safin with benson or lagesson with bear, otherwise I like it Toronto fans will whine and say its not enough but you're in the ball park. If that Ottawa trade were to happen Id make keith permanent gm immediately. You gotta use that excess cap space on a decent third line center, that is still a massive hole that needs to be filled. If Ryan strome liked it here you could bring him back on a relatively team friendly deal or someone else that is solid defensively. I'd sell petrovic for a 4th or 5th and bring up Jones or persson. imo Jones is ready to be an NHL 6/7 D and Persson is unknown as he's playing really well in Europe Id consider taking the chance on him.

(EDM/VAN) - Spooner for Gagner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilersfan089</b></div><div>At first I thought this was great because I thought Ganger only had a year left on his contract. But no, he still has another year like Spooner, but 1 mil cheaper. So Oilers save 1mil in cap space and basically improve slightly because Ganger is more likely to fit/play hard for a role on the team. He's going to get a solid opportunity to play big minutes (probably try him out as a center or a RW with one of the 3 big centers). Great chance for him to turn his career around. But I would have preferred Spooner being traded for a draft pick or a prospect, simply to just open up the cap space.</div></div>
spooner already had retained salary the oilers took on 50 thousand more dollars.

I'd say Edmonton will be lucky to get a 3rd round pick for Talbot, more likely he'll fetch a 4th rounder.</div></div>
It's more like moving up from a early mid 2nd to a late first Its not just being handed a 1st also Edmonton is taking cap off space off of buffalo so they can make other moves. Lastly please read the description and make yourself useful.

McDavid Trade Read Description
Man so many people forget that this is time judge value NOT what's best for a team. San Jose could make a package trading Logan couture to Toronto for Morgan Reilly sure the value might be close (if you disagree shut up you get my point) both teams get worse because of this trade. So those of you saying the Colorado trade is terrible your wrong the value is fair doesnt mean it's a good idea to do it same with van. The LA trade is terrible for Edmonton unless you can somehow make kovulchuk 10 years younger. The 5 star is cause of the dummies.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonesryan</b></div><div>this deal makes no sense from Toronto's side.. they don't need a Caggiula. he's not even in their top 9. They don't need a prospect dman who might work out. and the pick is just another prospect who might work out. Toronto is actually a contender this year (unlike Edmonton) they may not make it all the way, but Kapanen is going to help them quite a bit and won't have to sign for a lot this offseason. They'll need reliable wingers on reasonable deals with their cap crunch coming. Toronto passes with ease.</div></div>
Bear is definitely ahead of any of tornotos currents prospects. Cagguila brings grit something toronto has zero of and will get demolished in playoffs because of it. The draft pick is an asset that can be turned into something of need in the future. Plus theres no way they can resign kapanen if you have any hope of having money to counter a offer sheet for matthews or marner.
