I can’t think of a reason why the Hawks would have any interest in that.

Nylander Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Yeah so assuming they don't care all that much about the 6 mil cash the question is the 4.6 mil cap space. They only seen to have kurashev as a significant RFA left. Call him 2.5 and another 3 mil for 3 scratches. So 5.5 mil, leaves them with 12.5 mil in cap space. And they have ****ty options in net. Seems like they have the space if they want to and it's mostly a question of getting as much value as they want.
But it wouldn't hurt them to take him on (12.5 or 8 mil, will grow to plenty of cap space by January either way and they only have two retention slots left), so I suppose it's a question of meeting their price. <strong>But they're likely better off not playing too hard ball and getting an asset and a goalie who may help, then getting nothing I'd think.</strong> 🤷</div></div>
Hard disagree. They have 3 promising young goaltenders that need playing time. They’ve got a good setup now with Mrazek/Soderblom splitting games in the NHL and Commesso/Stauber in the AHL. Bringing in Murray screws that up and ensures that the younger guys aren’t getting games. A 3rd and a middling prospect isn’t worth it.

Part of giving a Bedard a better team in the long term requires letting young guys play so they can find their goalie of the future. I'm not sure why you keep bringing up Mrazek's injury history, they've played the same number of regular season games over the last 4 years and Mrazek played more last year. Adding Murray to Mrazek doesn't help the Hawks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>No moving Murray isn't going to cost a 1st. The goalie market right now is paper thin and the Hawks only have 1 goalie on their roster and he is both terrible and absolutely will not play more than 30 games. Do you really want to throw a couple AHL guys to the wolves? Murray doesn't have any value but it won't cost a tonne to move. It's been reported today that they are shopping him and expect a late pick in return. Guess what, your GM is giving guys like Perry and Foligno 4 million a piece to insulate Bedard. Getting a 2 time cup champ goalie for free is likely par for the course for you guys. It's a clear upgrade and could he a good move if Murray stays healthy. For a team with loads of cap space and a clear need in net, it's certainly not far fetched. No matter how badly you dream of screwing the leafs over.</div></div>
The Hawks have 4 goalies under contract, they don't have room for Murray. The plan is for Soderblom and Stauber to get NHL games this year. Murray makes that much more difficult. I'm not saying moving Murray is going to cost a 1st or commenting on value. But I think your evaluation of Chicago's situation in net is off. They don't have a need there, and sending them Murray isn't doing them a favor.

cap issues
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>If Lehner is LTIRetired, then his contract should be priced more like Seabrook or Voracek - essentially nothing. Martinez would play in the Hawks top 4 and is only a pay-to-move asset because of the Knight's situation.</div></div>
The problem here is that the Hawks have no incentive to take on Lehner’s deal. Seabrook was traded for Johnson and 2nd, the Hawks got off of his contract so they could take on Johnson for an asset. Voracek seems like he’s not going to play again, so that just helps the Yotes hit the cap floor. Those incentives don’t exist in this deal. They’re taking on $15 mil in cap over 2 years for a 3rd. It’s just not worth it.

Yeah, this really isn’t close at all for the Hawks. Good row is a cap dump. Jones is decent but the Hawks already have a ton of promising LD. Lad is interesting but he’s been way too disappointing to give up high picks for, and he doesn’t fit the mood for what Chicago is looking for in their forwards.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ALL_HAIL_CALE</b></div><div>Girard's contract is good for 4 more years, and he's only 25 currently...</div></div>
But the Hawks probably aren’t going to be competing for another 2-3 years minimum. By the time they get to the point where a player like Girard is useful, he’ll be in his late 20s and looking to get paid. I’m sure he’s going to want good money on a long term deal, and that going to be a problem as that’s when guys like Bedard are going to be coming off their ELCs. Just not worth the cost of valuable draft capital and prospects.

Girard doesn’t really make sense for the Hawks. He’ll be in his late 20s and looking for a new contract when the Hawks are just starting to compete.

I don’t see much reason for the Hawks to make that deal. I’m pretty confident after getting back to playing top line minutes with Bedard, Hall at 50% will be worth something comparable to that on his own.

The Hawks needed a goalie last year to be their tank commander. This year they already have 4 goalies, meaning they have to buy someone out to take Murray. Price goes up because of that.

I’d prefer to keep Jones to insulate the young D coming in over the next few years. I don’t really see a scenario where the Hawks are willing to tie up a retention spot for 7 years anyways.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Steven_Stamkos</b></div><div>Personally, I would do it as Chicago. I think Timmins is a good player and it's fine value for 1 year of Murray, even if he is buried or rides the pine. Definitely an underpayment for a cap dump compared to what the majority of this site would suggest.</div></div>
I like Timmins decently enough, but I just don’t see him being worth it. The Hawks have 4 goalies already, so they have to figure out what to do with the extra guy. They have 3 RD in the NHL and Regula that needs time. Short term I don’t really see a fit. Long term, the Hawks have Jones and Murphy signed on the right side with prospects coming up, and Timmins is a going to be 28-30 before the Hawks really start to push to contend. The rest of the core will be early 20s. Unless they think Timmins can be picked for a really good pick, I just don’t see what it does for the Hawks.

Rather keep Jones. He's overpaid, but he's the only capable top pairing guy we have and we need someone to insulate all the LD prospects we have coming up. Maybe in 3-4 years we have to dump him, but I'd rather worry about it then when the cap has gone up and there's less term on his deal.
