The roster isn't good enough after these moves to justify giving out those contracts and giving away a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd that will all be in the top 10 of their respective rounds.

HayesTDA to Chicago
No offense, but I'm struggling to find a reason why Chicago would entertain this. They're rebuilding, picks and prospects are the most valuable commodities to them right now. Here they lose a 2nd, lose a prospect who just had a really nice year, and downgrade their 1st in a really good draft.
Now, it might be worthwhile if the Hawks thought they could flip TDA and Hayes for more value at a later date. However, that's not something I would be willing to gamble on, personally. Even if I was, I doubt the Hawks would be willing to bring in these two players, specifically. They've had a lot of off-ice stuff going on over the last 3 years, I doubt they want to bring in TDA who's had problems throughout his career with controversy off-ice. Hayes doesn't have that same issue, but I think there's still some dislike for him amongst Blackhawks fans. I certainly don't care for him.

Bedard to Columbus
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Josh_King</b></div><div>These are all very astute observations but people do realize more than half of chicagos roster and prospects are still unsigned? With everything going on I wonder how many of those players are staying and how many sign with new teams, but that also aligns with another problem which is the depth on the team is already terrible. And if Chicago really wants to structure the team for a championship like Florida or Vegas you need developed established players in the league who can play all sides in order to succeed in the playoffs and Chicago is nowhere near that anywhere. Now free agency change both situations but nobody on Chicago plays the way bedard does except for maybe reichel and that sticks bedard and the hawks right into complete mediocrity, and that’s IF bedard can carry the entire team on his back right out the gate. Which has not gone to plan for the most recent 1st round picks.</div></div>
Not really sure what you’re talking about here. The only signings of consequence they have to make are Kurashev and Regula. And yeah they have no depth, they just finished year 1 of a rebuild. They tore it down to the studs and sold off anything of value. They’re not expecting Bedard to carry them anywhere for at least 2 or 3 years. That’s why they’ve loaded up on draft capital over the next 3 years.

I think I’d rather hang onto the picks as a Hawks fan. They should be able to get good players or move up with those. I loved Turcotte in his draft year, but he’s been disappointing enough that I wouldn’t move those picks for him, personally.

Auston Matthews Blockbuster
Arizona would have to be incredibly confident that Matthews would sign with them, and if they were, why would they trade so much for him when he's a year from UFA? As good as Matthews is, I'm not sure how he's worth a top pair guy in Jones with 7 years left on his contract at $2.3 mil a year, AND two 1sts. I think the 7 years of retention for Chicago and Arizona kills this deal before it even starts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devils101</b></div><div>Chicago took Mrazek, a 6.8m dump, and Toronto moved back 12 spots in the draft. So it’s not that bad, as Muzzin only counts towards the cap for the first game, then goes to LTIR and Chicago gets the cap space for the rest of the year</div></div>
The Hawks didn't have an NHL goalie this time last year, they needed a warm body to put in net. That isn't the case now, in fact they have 4 guys between the NHL and AHL. If they take on Murray, they they have to dump him or Mrazek on someone else or buy one of them out. The price goes up because of that.

Off season
I imagine the Hawks feel pretty good about where they’re at in goal right now. Mrazek as the tank commander for one more year, Soderblom splits starts in the big leagues, and Commesso developing in the minors. Don’t think they’d want add there, especially not for two more years. May end up blocking someone’s development.

1 year of Toews, a likely top 10 pick, and a high 2nd for Rasmus friggin' Asplund. That's just terrible for the Hawks.

What does it takes to acquire Dach
I wouldn’t do it personally. I think if Dach is traded it’s likely a Hagel situation. They don’t want to give him up, but will if they get an offer they can’t refuse. I don’t think the Hawks love this draft based on the moves they’ve made thus far for future picks. So I’m not sure how appealing that pick is to them. Portillo is nice, but they have Commesso who is the same age and a pretty good prospect himself. Prettt reasonable offer though, a lot better than some of the stuff thrown around.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Jake had more points per game and goals per game this season while being better defensively and has more term at a lower number. Really the only advantage cat has is age imo
A trade for cat would not involve guentzel, being my point. I think it could (it won’t but it could) happen tho, it would probably include Marino a couple prospects and draft picks</div></div>
I don’t think Guentzel is better defensively than Debrincat, pretty much ever stat I’ve seen puts Debrincat in front. Production wise they’re pretty identical players in my view. Guentzel scored slightly more, Debrincat played on a team where he and Kane were the only real offensive threats. Overall I think they’re pretty similar as players for whatever that does for the value comparison.
In the end though, Pitt just doesn’t have the pieces to get it done. If they’re moving Debrincat it’s because they think he will be approaching the end of his prime when they are ready to contend. Marino is older than Debrincat. At the end of the day, the Hawks are going to want multiple high-end picks/prospects, which the Pens really just don’t have.

Doesn’t make much sense for Chicago. Saros will be a UFA and 30+ years old before they’re ready to compete. Not giving up what is likely a top 5 pick plus a lot of other draft capital for that.

Can’t see that being enough. Every report has said that a team will need to make Chicago an offer they can’t refuse. It’s an ok package, but I’d be pissed if the Hawks traded Debrincat for that.

Dahlen seems like a decent enough player, but he’s 24 and just finished his first NHL season. Can’t see a rebuilding Hawks being willing to give up a high 2nd for him.

He said that teams are wondering if he will get qualified or not. Nothing directly from Chicago. There was speculation about it earlier in the year, which is probably what this all stems from, but that was before Strome broke out again. I have a hard time seeing a team so devoid of talent with that amount of cap space not qualifying Strome.

Debrincat pretty much exclusively plays LW. For some guys it doesn’t matter awhile lot, but given how effective Debrincat’s shot and one timers are, feels like it’s better for him to stay at LW FWIW.
