Yikes the performance decrease will happen and that cap hit till he is 41 even yikes. This is one of those buyout contracts down the road. And the next GM of the Penguins scratches his head to the previous GM....
YIKES!

Now resign their RFA Luukonen and you got the 1a/1b to develop the young kid at the NHL level. Veteran that can give you reliable minutes and can walk away from next summer and hand the reigns to the youth movement the Sabres are doing. #loveit

Umm delusional
Laine and his agency has a plan and he is two 1 year deals or 2 year deal away from that plan.

Yeah that is definitely not happening. Going to be a massive 7 year contract 2 years from now with a 9 or a 1 in the front of it.

Great contract for Fiala and the Kings. Should be a perfect fit.
Not salty at all. Laine like PLD are both going to get max value and will wait till the cap goes up and the new TV contract kicks in. He double hockey sticks, I would do the same thing if I was in there position. You think Laine will sign long term at this point in his young hockey career not to hit the market, your just crazy with some hometown blinders on.

Laine is hitting the UFA market and going to be looking for a double digit payday. Two 1 year contracts to come for Columbus and Laine.

I don't see that. Teams don't help out other teams that are in cap trouble unless they get something in return. It's going to be retention or draft pick compensation or both....

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>You cant dislike a no risk chance on a guy at near entry level cap hit.
While I think having a career year at age 26 (in Russia) is more hype than being able to translate his game tyo north america, its a low risk move. Hes probably a nice creative, albeit one way guy, whos not especially fast and not physical, but thats for his linemates. I doubt he is more than a 9th-13th forward in the NHL
Hes a good offensive player, but even at 900k if he plays 3rd or 4th line in the NHL thats a sound investment.</div></div>
If he hits all his bonuses than that counts towards next seasons cap hit total ;) though

Canuck fans. You can say move out Dickinson/Pearson all you want. If you don't have anyone to trade them too and can't find another club, you are stuck with them. I have a feeling to move either or retention is going to be required.

Or maybe next Gusev/Shipachyov. Good thing it's just a 1 year prove me deal and if it pans out good than look at resigning him but I personally on the fence. Time will only tell. Could be 1 and done back to the KHL. Honestly with what is going on in the world I wouldn't bring in any Russians from the KHL at this time.

(MTL/VGK) - Weber for Dadonov
Simply put both teams won.
Vegas dumped a player that was active and a high cap hit at 5 million and gets them one step closer to icing a team next season. The LTIR contract (Weber) goes from the IR in the off season to the LTIR on opening day and will help fix there cap issues for the season. They better have a good capologist in there organization that has it down to the last dollar ;)
Montreal gets out from that high cap hit contract and opens up the cap space to the deadline and has a movable asset who has 1 year left on his contract can have some retention without any long term repercussions.
Too bad teams would let Vegas sit in there mess for a bit, before teams like the Canadiens came to the rescue...

Great contract. Has two years to show his value or will be down the depth chart enough where going back home will be enticing as younger players will be more valued as he is already 23 years old. Lets see if he can show the Kings.... <div class="yt_out_cont"><div class="yt_cont"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bRl_sBg6GX8" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></div>

More like Korpisalo as the Jackets aren't trading there #1 and the Oilers still probably can't afford the 1.3 million price tag for Korpisalo lol

Solid signing. If he doesn't workout come training camp and make the team this contract can be simply placed through waivers and be on the farm for a call up down the road.

Okay didn't know that. I would let him play his overage year still in the WHL and eat up a year of his ELC just for development purposes alone.
