Yeah, I don't advocate for anyone to get hurt. Reeves shouldn't have done that late hit, but that hit was cleaner than most of the controversial hits by Tom Wilson. Reeves was CLEARLY late, but Wilson was also LOOKING RIGHT AT REEVES and then turned his head. Check out the link below at the 24 second mark. Maybe one could argue he wasn't stairing at Reeves in the eye because he was puck watching, but certainly front of the jersey @ Reeves. It was also a shoulder hit too...Karma i guess would be the best word for what happened. Reeves suspended 1 game because the intent was there AND it was a late hit, but it wasn't a head hit.

I thought the hit was clean. I don't think a second even comes off the clock between when Wilson makes the pass and Reaves connects with him. It was predatory but clean IMO. And certainly nice to see Wilson eat one.

NHL should probably adopt some sort of 'defenceless skater' rule to take these hits away tho if they care about head injuries.

There needs to be an equipment rule that the players have to wear their helmets/chinstraps correctly. Wilson lands face/head first on the ice. Helmet would've softened the blow but due to poorly wearing the chinstrap the helmet just flies off.

Wilson is okay with his Cup while Reaves was healthy scratched. Reaves just lucky they don't play again this season. Such a cowardice hit. But I expect that from Reaves.

As for the Reaves hit, obviously Wilson was puck watching, the puck was loooooong gone. He had no need to keep an eye on Reaves because he shouldn't have hit him. But Wilson will get his due next season when they meet or maybe again the Cup Finals if Reaves isn't a healthy scratch.

No because Wilson is trying to change his game like he's said all season. He's a top 6 forward that has over a point a game pace. He wants to be on the ice, not in the box, and he's done a good job at that this season. Old Wilson would have fought Reaves earlier in the game, but he helps his team more on the ice than in the box.

yeaaa I don't think so. Both Reaves' hit last night and Wilson's hit against the Devils were perfectly legal hits. The puck was not 'long gone'. The unwritten rule is that you don't take more than 3 strides to finish a check which Reaves was well within.
