Everything is good except you really should just let Larsson walk. He's been terrible and he can easily be replaced by a prospect. Hayes is a perfect fit. I'd use the Larsson money to add 750K to the Hayes deal.

Well done. I personally wouldn't resign Larsson and I would sign McCabe for 5-6 years. I don't think Pekar is going to play NHL for another 2-3 years

My guess is that Hayes is going to ask for $6M on the open market. I don't think he is worth that, maybe in the $5.5M range.
I also think the likely hood of him signing in Buffalo is slim - he is a big city guy.

Buffalo's only shot at him would be at the deadline, hoping he enjoys March and April in Buffalo and extending him...McCabe and a 2nd will do.

I agree. Why give him 1.75 for someone you can find cheaper.

I agree, let 22 walk. He doesn't really do much for you. Decent PKer and 4th line guy. But replaceable. Also, love McCabe.

Interesting you say that given that the Sabres signed Pekar to an ELC. They must see him playing in Roch sooner than later. Dont you think?

Five stars. Great job.
I do not think Pekar will be ready (but he really does look good), I hope Nylander and Olofsson are ready. Pilut is looking like the steal of the year.
I love the idea of signing Hayes. I also love the idea of not selling any of the future for making the playoffs this year, patience is the key to success, just ask the turtle and hare.
You will save by just putting Hunwick in the AHL and his cap will be done in one year.
Not so much for Sobotka, but by sending him to the minors his cap would be done at the end of the year. In addition, he may actually have trade value, after all Betterall got a conditional 7th for Fedun and Sobotka has much more talent than Taylor, especially if salary is with held. Let's presume he could return a 4th or even a 3rd if salary is with held.
I think Scandella has more value than other contributors have given him, so I think that trade is very reasonable.
Mittelstadt and Thompson are looking better every month. The top 6 looks absolutely awesome.
Finally, I agree with you signing Larsson. Housley has faith in his ability because 80% of his starts are in the defensive zone.
All of this is constructive comments.

I really like a lot of this. We have a need for another top-9 C and Hayes would fit that perfectly. I agree with the rest that Pekar probably won’t be ready for nhl so potentially a prospect or minor trade/signed for a bottom 6 guy would do. I think Larry would be fine for another year or two as the 4C. Very solid defensive center. My only big qualm is I don’t think Ullmark will cost us $3mill. Coming off a rookie deal you could get him for about a mill less or more i believe

Obviously Larsson does not put up offensive numbers, so:
Why is he on the team when there are many other options (Berglund, Sobotka, Wilson, Elie, Girgensons, Okposo, Thompson, Rodrigues)?
Why are 80% of his starts in the defensive zone?
Are there better options? I am sure there are but he is obviously playing to Housley's expectations. Lastly, the Sabres only need to qualify him at his current salary. Unless there is better option, he will be on the roster next year.

Honestly, I just did a bunch of research on Larsson, and you do have a point. But still, not 1.75 million. Offer him 500k less max. Other teams don’t value him enough to top that kind of offer.
