jack Hughes is not worth that much.

Also, CBJ wont make the playoffs and that pick will win the lottery anyways...smile

So you just want to continue the pain do ya? You could have given COL Tkachuk with the 4th pick last year but now you want to trade him and a bunch more just to get that 18% chance at Hughes this year? My suggestion is to find a new team to cheer for, for the next 4 years. Maybe by then Melnyk will have been forced out.

Kakko's gold reportedly has NHL teams in need of an Elite Winger looking at him .
EDM or VAN gets #1 guaranteed they take Kakko over Hughes .

2020 is a much deeper draft too, good foundation to build from.

Maybe. Hughes projects as a winger in the NHL anyhow, so I'm not sure Kakko was any advantage just because he plays wing today.

Hughes reminids me of Patrick Kane.

I agree...he is also fairly small to play as a solid 2C...Players can adapt(ie B Point) but it will be interesting

I am positive that Vancouver would take Hughes over Kakko with #1 overall. Otherwise would be a massive slap in the face to his brother Quinn.

Vancouver takes Hughes & re-unites a set of brothers ... no way they take anyone else at #1

This debate has been raging for awhile as far as who is the better player.
But for the record. Hughes is only an inch shorter than Crosby.
I'm pretty sure none of you would have passed up on Crosby due to his height.

Hughes projects as a Center, that has everything to do with his Hand eye and hand speed. Both trades good centers have and very useful in the faceoff circle.

Kappo is a good player, but he doesn't have the play making ability of Hughes. You could see that in WJC. The offense went through Hughes when he was on the ice. You can't say the same about Kappo.

Hughes will be the 1st over all. No matter who picks.

add the fact they are giving up the 2020 1st round pick which its another guarantee top 4 pick with a chance at drafting Alexis Lafreniere who might be better than Hughes/Kakko.

that's the most unprofessional reason to do something i've ever heard involving how to use a 1st overall pick . . . . . . .

who gives a crap what 1/50 contracts thinks , the future matters and its who complements Petterson ,Boeser and Horvat .

very unlikely .

when Crosby went 1st overall i knew it for years before hand , Mcdavid i knew it when he was 14 and Don Cherry pegged him as the next great one , Mckinnon i saw that coming for years ,the list goes on . Lafreniere reminds me of Nolan Patrick , all hype for a 2nd /3rd line center at best .

dont get me wrong AL is a good player but in todays NHL he's just not #1 worth IMO but lets see if he does anything next time his country calls on him as he was less then impressive this past December.Next years draft looks like the weakest since 2012 and honestly i would be surprised to see a lot more 1st round picks traded in the future . AL is good but if your top pick isnt even a believable top line or pair player then what's the point ?

If you're deciding between two players who are essentially even in value and the top prospect in your system, who will probably be one of your top defenseman for years to come, happens to be the brother of one of those players, you pick him.
