Rangers don't have the cap or the stomach to take Dubinski and his 5.8m cap hit

Where’s the cap room for PLD, Anderson and others? That’s 3 maybe 4 lottery picks to Toronto.

I love how a report comes out that Columbus offered Marner an OS and everyone quit reading well before the part that says, "Marner turned it down because he wants to stay in TO".

Only 2 years left. Another team will take him. Carlsson is a nice sweetener

Well aware of that. I’m just showing what this team could’ve potentially looked like

It’s not gonna happen I’m just saying this is what CBJ would’ve potentially looked like with a marner offersheet

Obviously the potential of this was zero.

Clearly not since it was presented to marner. I didn’t pull this from nowhere

I agree, there was most likely some fire with this smoke. But I don't really get what's going on here..

I mean, Marner's camp has leaked it to the media that they would solicit offer sheets. So, Ferris gets some traction with Columbus, they discuss details, an offer is suggested/presented(??), Ferris takes it to Marner, Mitch tell Ferris he only wants to play in Toronto, Ferris goes back to Columbus and tells them that Mitch isn't interested.

What. A. Waste. Of. Time.

And I can't imagine GM's of any team like getting jerked around like that just so a player from another team can use them for leverage to get more coin out of their team. Things could really turn sour for Marner if he isn't careful and he continues to play this kind of game..

What I think happened is, Ferris said, "Hey GM's what kind of money are we talking?" Then Columbus and apparently NYI said how about X dollars that Ferris went to Dubas with and said this is what others are offering, what are you going to do about it? Or Ferris was like "well this didn't go as planned" because the offers were light

Can buy out Foligno or trade him (limited NTC) + move Murray and/or Savard (since they have Nutivaara/Kukan/Gavrikov behind them) or Wennberg (whether he bounces back or not).

Not hard to find cap space for PLD.

Love how people take Capfriendly Armchair GM posts as serious predictions for future outcomes instead of realizing that it's just a fun place to mess around with pipe dreams for your favorite team.

Well, I can kinda get that approach, too. But here is the thing, Dubas probably says, you have our offers and we can negotiate from there, or you can sign the OS and we will discuss our options internally.

But what is the benefit of leaking an OS and then including that Mitch would rather play in Toronto. Like, how does that strengthen his position..

On the offers coming in light, and Ferris thinking that did not go as planned, I would imagine that is true. And that doesnt strengthen their hand either. The only leverage Marner has is if he actually signs an OS. Everything is just alot of nonsense until a contract gets signed.

If its all in the same ballpark then I think everyone plays chicken until someone breaks and sets the market. Hypothetically, if all the remaining RFA's are waiting on each other, and Marner is currently looking at pretty much the same number no matter where he goes, his best option is to wait to see if a GM somewhere else flinches with their RFA and sets the market higher.

Which is exactly what I think is happening. At some point, one of the RFA's flinch, or a GM flinches and that will get the ball rolling. The closer it gets to the start of the season, Point and Marner or their respective GM's flinch since those teams can't afford for a player to hold out. Really the only team that can afford a prolonged hold out is Colorado. At least that's what comes to mind. So with that in mind, I can see this going on until Mid August. There is no rush at this time.

Possibly. Except Aho already signed, and it can be argued that he's the best of their class.

As much as these rfas want to think they're ufa, they're not. And they're certainly not McJesus, or even AM for that matter.
