I appreciate the people that realize there bias’s, on here and learn as they go as I try too. Not a bad thing to have a die hard loyalty either lol

I think anything that closes ones mind is a bad thing. The ability to reason sets us apart from lesser animals and yet many freely through that out the window on a daily basis. But enough sage words from me today.

Letang because of reputation? He was 8th in points from a defenseman and wouldve been top 5 if he played the same amount of games as everyone else

Letang that low is a joke lol. Such an under rated D

I hear, little deep for this website. I enjoy the give and take especially in August, any rumours or news on rfas without deals

He's past his prime though, its just a fact and it won't get better as he gets older. Same with Malkin and Crosby. Still all elite players but they will get a little bit slower, and just all around more sore as the years keep going.

He's coming off back to back 50+ point seasons and a 16 goal year. I dont care if people are calling him past his prime and injury prone, he produces points and he's always near the top

Sure, I am not trying to take away from how good he is and was, more just saying he's being pushed down the ladder by younger players. Its just the way of life. I still think they could win 1 more cup but if it doesn't happen this year it probably is the end of this cores contention window.

subscribe cool

I like this list overall. It's gonna be fun watching the turnover on these names in the next few years. Guys like Dahlin, Makar, QHughes, Heiskanen, Chabot, Byram, etc. are gonna flip the script.

Heiskanen, was a difference maker in year 1 playoffs

2 seasons ago when he played 79. Him being injured doesn't take away the fact he is still one of the more talented dmen and he produces points

haha hes #21 on my list

It was tough not to include him

the last spot for me was between
Spurgeon
Dahlin
McDonagh
Werenski

went with Spurgeon because he is the player out of those 4 who is most in his prime imo and he also recieved norris votes unlike Dahlin and Werenski...

Yea, I don't hate ya and agree, but I also think based in next year Dahlin will be top 10. But based on this year, can see it

Roman Josi should be top defenseman on any top-anything list concerning defense. The dude is simply the best (and I hate it because we play him in the division). The dude is simply incredible.

hahahahahha maybe top15 defensively but not top20 overall lol

Overall defenceman must combine offensive ability and defensive ability! So giordano is on top there but burns ans karlson isnt 2-3 there not even in the top10. Both have tremendous offensive abilities but defensively they are not good. For me hedman come way in front of them, charlie macvoy will be a complete defenseman to

1 giordano
2 hedman
3 john carlson
4 drew doughty
5 ryan suter
6 roman josi
7 brent burns
8 erik karlson
9seth jones
10 dustin bufyglien

Weber is still one of the best goal scoring defensemen in the game... everyone on here loves to say how much goal scoring has the most value, but this somehow doesn't apply to Weber???? smh Weber, playing for a team with the 2nd worst powerplay last season, tied for #2 in the league with Reilly in avg goals per game by a dman (Letang was #1). let that sink in...

imo if we were to evaluate every zone individually, Weber would still probably rank top 5 in both the offensive zone and defensive zone. but due to his age, his transition game is really what diminishes his standing in these kinds of lists. so I understand people no longer including him. but that's fine by me, he's still an elite #1 Dman.
