Rumored latest offer to point

Initial Creation Date: Sep. 13, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’m a huge Bolts fan but I personally don’t see Point taking that low. He needs to buy into the system but I don’t see that being a good cap hit for a player like him. Maybe 6-7 for 3 years. Nothing more. Let me know your thoughts

It’s not a rumour, Pierre LeBrun said it. So it’s fact. And man, oh man are the bolts lowballing him.

His projected AAV on a 3 year deal is 7.15M via Evolving Wild's contract projections, so this would be a drastic underpay for a player of Point's caliber (especially so given what Marner just got)

Ok why 3yrs? Wouldn't 4yrs make more sense for Point so the contract ends and he's a UFA?

Pierre Lebrun said it so it a "fact".. dont even have to comment further. Reason Erne was traded and Domingue and Condon jettisoned .. Tampa cap will be near 11M .. there only ONE guy to sign .. plus leave a little pocket change for Cruncher bonuses etc.

FYI .. Tampa biz circles say expect big # or a holdout.. reality is he not needed for awhile

Just kook what Marner just signed for, with his 1st non-ELC contract, and he plays on the wing...and tell me Point should sign for anything less?

Oh yeah after Marner, he’ll want 9.5 million. Welcome to a shortened roster...

Point looking at marners contract like Huell looking at a pile of cash.
If 20 goal marner gets 10.8.....40 goal Point should be demanding 12.
In all honesty, I think Mathews contract is a good comparable.

Marner's overpaid contract will have little bearing on the Point negotiations. If the rumor of 5.7x3 is even accurate, it's a smart bridge offer from JBB. The Bolts have 8.4 million to spend, you don't start by offering Point everything you have. 5.7 is a little low but for a bridge, would be higher than any other Tampa player (Stamkos took 7.5 on his 2nd deal, but was for 5 years). I think he'll come in around 7 on a bridge, which is where his overall stats indicate he should be in terms of contract value. Tampa doesn't bend to their rfa's, it's how the team's structure is set up and Point will ultimately be no different.

Not familiar with Evolving Wild, do they take location (tax treatment) into account? Nobody cares what that idiot in Toronto does. Just because Dubas folds like a polyester suit and hands out ridiculous contracts doesn't mean every GM has to.

I don't think they take into account team friendly deals or taxes, so whatever they say in projections... we do things differently... sometimes...
Remember Labanc deal: That's a San Jose Sharks special... nobody will project that one...
They usually accurate, that's the only thing u need to do with every team, not worry about taxes and stuff, they have a good algorhythm based on all math stuff...
They can't predict: "I want Matthews money!!!! Only that or i go to Switzerland to play for Zürich! - Hahaha tears of joy

Anyways, taxes not that important as you think in general.
Stralman just got 5.5 mill contract in Florida. Do you think he got overpayed that much because of "ONLY" Taxes? So Stralman in Toronto would have gotten 7.5 million $ contract?...
There are lots of stuffs which comes to my mind about Tampa and why in general we get more team friendlier deals, but not always though! Just to give you a general idea...

Lets see:

Cup contenders for a while, Superstar caliber players in every position = fun to play with them(lot more important than you think - who wants to go to ottawa right now for 3mill $ + 500k vs 3 mill $ contract in tampa...)

Good past/present GM: some GM's can't be discipline, especially on July 1st or new trend:RFA's contracts off the charts...holdouts...

Beach, sunny weather(counter exmples if u like cold weather, u probably sign with winnipeg rather, just a random example if 2 contracts almost same money except Tampa's contract 200k less)

Taxes(yes it counts, but not the only factor by far)

Culture: players taking less in general(sometimes they want NTC-NMC in return)

Real bridge deals - not fake ones: look at Kucherov's bridge deal - or Vasi

Good, friendly environment:Media+Fans are not super agressive and cancer( look at some twitter, youtube messages regarding the Marner contract
or like Zaitsev wants out from Toronto badly this year, but counter example: Panarin wants to be in big city, celebrity, fame etc...)

Countless of other investment/agent/money reasons

You might agree/disagree with some of the points i listened, and im sure there are others which i missed... but you need to look at big picture...
How do you not want to play here and for what reason if u got a call?
(except like Pavelski : We offered him probably less than 5 mill(prediction) - other teams 7 millions+ --> then he chooses the 7 million $ contract, because the difference is too big in the paycheck or he thinks with Dallas he can win a cup(or closer to his home), we don't know his reasons usually, only can guess, but that's again the cup contender category or GM)

And how are you not happy, when u got drafted by the Tampa etc... what a fun life you will have with a contract in Tampa land...

It's just basically? What's not to like In Tampa...

Still the difference with all the things i listed is not that big on contracts: It's not like we got a contract at 75% of what a player might earn in Ottawa.
It's just a small % diff at tops or sometimes 0% - 1% diff...
You're right, nobody will cry in the Point camp: "They want Marner's money ASAP!!! Marner $$$ or nothing... I deserve that, im like copy of Auston Matthews!"
"Or Kucherov's money or nothing! " - this narrative is nonexistant here
