Get read for the hate because of the Manson trade 🙄

Wouldn’t it be logical for the Ducks to want a young RD prospect for Manson? Isn’t that a huge organizational position of need? Forwards aren’t a necessity glancing at their prospect pool.

(1) Please tell me which of these LWs you think Engvall would be an upgrade over: Dan Heinen, Sonny Milano, Max Jones.

(2) Please tell me which of these LWs you think Engvall has a higher potential ceiling than: Max Comtois, Braden Tracey.

(3) As @Pmwalker implies, please tell me how we fill the hole at RD that would be created by trading Manson away. We currently have only Erik Gudbranson and prospects Axel Andersson and Hunter Drew under contract on that side.

We don’t hate because it’s a Manson trade. We hate it because they never want to return something we NEED we don’t need more wingers

Even if you acquire Manson you need a top 4RD. Holl isn’t there and expecting a guy like Lils to handle top 4 minutes immediately is a recipe for disaster.

Allows a deployment of some combination of Rielly,Brodie, Manson, Muzzin, Sandin and Holl.

That’s a better defense in my opinion and better aligns with the firepower up front making them contenders for sure.

As for brodie. That guy is a major risk and i think he should retire for health reasons. He suffered a seizure so if it happens again leafs signed a 5mill top 4 rd for nothing.

Why is the salary cap so high?

holl has been very good in the top 4 and liljegren will be a good 6th defenseman. the cap space saved instead of signing brodie could be far better optomised

Kinda ridiculous to expect a 89.5m cap. Brodie for 5m X 4 no thanks. Even Manson isn't that special any more. But seemingly the Leafs just have to other teams RHDs. What is the purpose of the Kesler trade? If he's permanently on LTIR it is no benefit/or harm to the Leafs or Duck on whose roster he is on. Leafs certainly don't want his cap if there is the possibility he ever is deemed medically fit.

AGM doesnt apply the cap hit of players on LTIR to the cap. The cap hit is absurdly high

Holl isn’t a top 4 on a contender. Adding Brodie and Manson to the top 4 would be a big upgrade.
It cost you Lils but you can recoup an asset or 2 for Dermott and still have Sandin.

You need to give a top prospect, (Liljegren/Der-arguchintsev), a high pick, (maybe a 2nd), and a regular centre/winger (Kerfoot/Johnsson.) and thats rock bottom offer. it would probably end up as Liljegren, Der-arguchintsev, a 2nd, and Kapanen

Once again how does that benefit Anaheim? How many times does it need to be said Leafs want Manson Anaheim wants Liljegren, Kesler isn't waiving his NMC for Toronto so that's a no go. Trade doesn't benefit Anaheim one iota here.

yep I am one of the few who thinks logically like when someone says a draft player is better than a star player I go "give me a full nhl season with both players and lets compare their advanced stats and point totals before I agree".

I agree with duck fans if manson goes a RHD like liligren needs to come back with a 2nd pick +. may be an overpayment to some but lets face it both teams need RHD and both teams want to go to the playoffs. If the leafs want to get passed round 1 which they can do only with an improved Dcore. Dubas knows this so he will be busy trading for some good defenseman (maybe even manson) who knows.

The ducks wont be good for a few seasons. It makes so much sense to trade him when they dont need him. He'll be 29 next season with two years left. His contract expires the year he turns 31 so it would be dumb to lock him up long term when hes a ufa. At his age he's starting to decline and the ducks wont be getting any better. Imo keeping manson makes no sense

Josh Manson is the Dodge Magnum of Dmen in the NHL, seems like a good idea at time of purchase but ultimately will be trade filled with regret
