Eichel would cost Lafreniere and then some. And that's even if Ottawa land the #1 pick.

Laf is an incredible prospect but he's still unproven. Even 1st overall picks bust. Eichel is a proven franchise center. I don't think Laf+ is that outlandish

Stutzle/Byfield + 2 top prospects plus a couple of roster player should be enough

Well like I said, you're trading for a proven franchise center. Laf/Byfield/Stutzle are all amazing prospects but they are still unknowns. I know fans generally hold high value towards promising prospects but that really isn't the case among front offices. Just look at what Nashville gave up for Turris as an example. GM's want proven players

Is that both top 5 picks for him? Franchise Centres for my grow on trees but hard to say no when a player sounds like he wants out. Will never get another offer at that value

Not even close. Buffalo gets a better offer or just gets stuck with Eichel for 5 more years. Easy call. Add Tkachuk, take out Miller then the conversation starts.

Nope Stutzle would be better than anything you could get. Plus you’re getting 2 1st round prospects with high potential

Not enough for a top 5 center. Either way, they would definitely demand the higher of Ottawa's 1sts this year (assuming neither pick wins the lottery). Not going to give up Eichel and give Ottawa first choice at which player they want.

Don't think Melnyk would sign off on this deal anyway. Those top of the draft players are cost controlled for a loooong time. Melynk is cheap may be a lazy take but that doesn't make it untrue.
