Saw the Gaudreau trade posted on here by a flames fan.

Bottrill was offered this Ehlers trade last year and turned it down. Moron.

This probably doesnt leave us much cap room to sign our pending RFA's in coming years but whatever lol.

I dont know that botteril was offered that. i think things were messed up due to the uncertainty around byfuglien.

that trade certainly doesn't work now.

The Domi trade is intriguing. I think it all comes down to Montreal's plan with the UFA line next year (Tatar, Danault, Gallagher). All 3 deserve huge raises, so it might come down to 2 of them vs Domi.

The Sabres were NEVER offered that trade. The only trade talk that Ehlers was involved in was to Carolina for Pesce or Hamilton which got turned down by Carolina.

There were very indepth conversations on a trade surrounding ehlers and ristolainen to the point where there was almost a deal. not sure where it got tripped up, but it was very close to done.

I know there was rumours involving Risto for Ehlers as the base but I never heard anything about it actually being close to getting done? Carolina was the only one I heard that was actually offered.

Not sure how solid he is as a source, but Maxim Guerin (@GuerinMaxim) is saying that Habs/Sabres discussing Risto for Petry, and teased potentially a Domi rumour.

Scary to think of the damage Chevy could of done with either of those trades, Ehlers was arguably the Jets best forward this season.

Id rather have Ehlers for 5 more years then Risto for 2. Even though the jets need to add a RD, they aren't gonna give up one of their best young players with 5 years of term.
Plently of value out there on the UFA market for a RD especially if they re-sign Demelo. Demelo, Pionk and Poolman is a good right side

Obviously Buffalo's 2020 1st would be lottery protected but if this was offered after the draft lottery for say the 7th OA pick I would do this.
There is a large group of Montreal fans that absolutely love Domi, I get it, to a point, but we need him to be a winger and he wants to play center so for me I would move him.

I love Domi. I don't want to lose him. But I think its more likely he gets dealt to create cap space for Tatar/Danault/Gallagher. I could stomach losing him for a chance at Perfetti, Raymond, Holtz and/or Quinn with the 7th and 8th picks.
