Fair! We will see once a few more people chime in. Hanafin and Domi are the main pieces in whatever trade is made between them though.

I think Toffoli might get another mil on his contract. Pittsburgh isn’t in a position to trade away more picks and young defenseman. They’d be better off signing a UFA then giving up so much to get Johnny Hockey simply cause their defense would be in pieces if this happened.

Fair! I could see New Jersey being another team that could go after Gaudreau also.

I can understand the Pens saying no because they have no prospects, but if you think the deal itself is unfair you’re out of your mind, I wouldn’t accept that as Calgary. You guys are hard underselling Gaudreau on all these deals like c’mon now he’s easily one of the best playmakers in the league

I dont think pitts can part with Marino, they have issues on the blue line as it is. Lehner is a no brainer and domi for hanifin seems fair

Sounds/seems like Marino is a young stud on D. He would be the most valuable piece going back to Calgary in this trade.

He did that and we scored 2 goals. If we move domi it should be 1 for 1 for a decent goal scoring winger. Romanov should step in and be that 4 d and 2lhd

Cool a good, young 2RD. Add 3 or 4 more equivalent pieces to that and you might be approaching the value of the guy who has the 11th most points in the league over the last 5 years.

It is unfair. A top 4 RHD on an entry level deal, our top LHD prospect still on an entry level deal, the 15th overall in an extremely deep draft and a 2nd for a top 6 LW that we already have Guentzel, Zucker, McCann for. I think Jersey or philly would be a better fit for him. If Gaudreau was right handed and minus Marino then it would be something the pens would be interested in. Hell you could take Bjugstad out of the deal too in that case lol

Hard to undersell someone who has been a magician in the playoffs. Johnny Hockey has the best disappearing act in all of canada.

Marino is the only appealing part of that deal and a second pair RD isn’t going to get you a superstar 1LW. POJ is like the 4th best prospect in the 2nd worst prospect pool in the league (is he even gonna be better than Kylington?), Bjug is a negative value cap dump, and the picks are an obvious inclusion for a player of Gaudreau’s calibre, especially considering he has 2 years left at under 7mil, a contract he consistently greatly outperforms. Replace Bjug and POJ (honestly combined that’s close to moot) with 2 pieces at least as good as Marino and maybe Calgary considers it.

Also a point on the draft as I’ve been paying close attention as a Sens fan as well: yes it’s deep, but 15 is the second tier. Meaning picks 13-20 or so have similar value players, which is good if you’re picking 20th, not so much if you’re picking 15th. Top 12 are where you’re likely to get someone who would go top 8 in another year, and picks 18-20 have more value than previous years, but 15 is pretty much the same as any mid-round pick from any other draft so it should be treated as such, this particular pick is not special this year.

I'm sick of seeing this take from people who clearly didn't pay any attention to this series, or even last year's series. Actually watch Johnny in any of those games and tell me he was the problem. If you double team him he'll get by 2 guys (and he did, usually multiple times per game) so you need to triple team him to contain him, but he's a playmaker. If you have 2 or 3 guys on Gaudreau then one of Monahan, Lindholm, or a D hopping up should be wide open, but they never were so who tf is he supposed to set up with all the ice he's opened up? Calgary has a real problem with showing up; Johnny is not the issue. I would say he had maybe one real bad game out of the six. Monahan had six bad games, Mangiapane had five, Lindholm had at least four. That's the real problem.

Riggggghhhhhtt. I can’t even take you seriously when you say pick 20 is more valuable than pick 15. That’s just ridiculous 😂. And Marino is only a 2nd pair RD because the pens have Letang who is still elite. He’d be the top pair RHD on Calgary. And POJ again is our best defensive prospect not counting Marino because Marino has played a full season already. Not our 4th best defensive prospect. I don’t even know if the pens even have 4 defensive prospects lol. And again, Gaudreau isn’t a need on the pens which diminishes his value for the pens. The pens don’t need a LW that would be the 2nd line LW and knock Zucker down to 3rd line and McCann down to 4th. So they aren’t going to pay top dollar for that. Nor will the pens pay to get rid of Bjugstad. They will either trade him for a late pick or keep him. That’s of no consequence to them.

I'm obviously not saying that wtf, I'm saying that 15 this year isn't special. 20 this year is better than 20 in other years, 12 this year is better than 12 in other years, 15 is about the same so don't act like it's worth more than usual. I kinda doubt Marino would be top pair here over Brodie or Andersson but whatever. I don't care if he's your best defensive prospect if your prospects suck lmao, and I was talking about prospects overall. It doesn't matter if you don't need him as much, if you want him you pay for him, we aren't giving him away for free. You pay top dollar or you don't get an elite player like why do you expect us to give him to you lmao. As for Bjug we don't need a 4mil bottom 6 guy so he holds no value other than being overpaid, so take him out.

No 15 this year is better than 15 previous years. You can try to down play our players all you want. It just makes you look silly. A team that doesn’t need Gaudreau isn’t going to pay top dollar. Why? Cause they don’t need him. You want top dollar for Gaudreau then trade him to a team that needs him lol. Simple as that. And yes, Marino absolutely would be top pair in Calgary lol
